Ok i have just checked the ladder after the matches on saturday afternoon. When i look it we are really not in that bad of a position. this is due to the fact that with sydney beating carlton, if we are to win tonite we can jump collingwood(who killed hawks) and carlton and if dockers lose we will only be a game outside the finals. and with us playing hawks at york ark next wekened, which isnt a certainity of a win, we can get back on track to sneak into the finals
it aint all gloom and doom.

GO EAGLES

i hope we dont make the finals, because even if we do, we will lose our first game, unless its against freo at subi, then we are a chance.
we would have better picks in the draft, and be more competetive during the trade period.

The only good thing that would come out of us making the finals (which is extremely unlikely), would be some of our young guys getting to experience the intensity of a final. Our team is still finding their feet. All I'm hoping for this season is to see them be a bit more competitive as the season wears on.

Its not impossible and its good for memberships, especially if the other mob make the finals. (niticed they are out at the moment but with a game in hand).

Goes to show how important last weeks game was... reverse that result and see what possition we would of been in then.

Well its now all come down to the Hawthorn game this weekend. If we are ever to win an away game it has to be this one. The Hawks are having an absolutely shocking season and if we can somehow get an away win we could very well sneak into the 8.

Lose to the Hawks and it's curtains because we have no chance of beating Port at AAMI or Brisbane at the GABBA.

this week is a very important game!

In
Wirrupunda
Selwood
Gaspar/Staker
Embley

Out
Sampi - unlucky, but we have a few players coming back from injury.
Adkins
B.Jones (assuming he is injured)
R.Jones

and where is Waters? Is he injured, if not he should be in the side.

Wirrpunda needs another week or 2 in the WAFL.
Selwood hasnt even played a WAFL game back from injury yet. Needs a week or 2 to get his fitness back.
Gaspar - No way he should be rushed back.
Staker - should come in.
Embley - Is his knee right yet?

The only changes should be:
In:
Wirrapunda
Wooden

Out:
Adkins
Morrison

reasons: wirra picked up a lazy 27 touches and 2 goals, and adkins had i think 2 touches, and could tackle a fly.
Wooden is a great player, who i believe is underrated, and should be in the side, instead of morrison who just cant play at AFL level since he did his knees. Wooden BOG in wafl, deserves a shot.

And we might be lucky to see Embley again this year. He has just had a brace put back on his knee to further stabilize it - that doesn't sound good. A great loss!

Morrison, played a very good game, which not many people have noticed, easily his best game this year and to drop him after that would be stupid! R.Jones needs to go back to the WAFL until he gets a couple of BOG's in a row, which he could have done standing on his head with his form last year.

I agree it was his best game of the year, but that doesnt say much given how poor the others have been.

His disposal was atrocious by foot and by hand. The number of times players had to collect the ball on the half-volley was unbelievable

Freo's win today shuts the door on the 8th.
I think the best the eagles can hope for is 10th with there tough draw home

We're still big chances 4 the finals:
just need 2 win 6 out of our next 8 n weve got(to get 12 wins):
Hawthorn(YP) WIN(by 100+)
Essendon(SO) WIN(by20)
Port Adelaide(FP) challenge
Bulldogs(SO) WIN(by 40)
Brisbane(G) challenge
Carlton(SO) WIN(by 30)
Freo(SO) challenge
Melb(SO) challenge

If we beat brissy at gabba agen or even port ad adel we can then afford 2 drop a home game, still finals prospects IMO

i argee with jod23. Wooden is a great player, he can kick the ball well. And I think the eagles can make the finals but we just have to play good away. Because i think we just have nothing when we play away teams.

I like our chances of beating Essendon, Carlton and the Bulldogs at home. That will give us 9 wins. We wont beat Port or Brisbane on the road so that gives us 10 losses.

The big games will be Hawthorn, Fremantle and Melbourne. Those are the key games. Remember that the Freo game is literally an 8 point game so that could be crucial.

I dont think we'll make it and we dont really need to make it as nobody outside of Brisbane is going to win the premiership. Huge chance for us to get our season back on track this weekend at YP.

Making the finals is irrelevant. We may/may not squeeze into 8th... but really we won't go past week 1.... all it will do is give some kids an experience of a final.... but we might be better off finishing 10th.. take the draft pick.... and the players will get a bit more steel into them for next year... knowing they missed the finals this year... rather than play badly and still make the finals.

What worries me is that we are going backwards rather than forwards and Judd may realise that and leave. That would be just about the worst thing that could happen.

Hopefully Judd can see that even though we dont make the 8 this year that we are still on the right track, well I believe we are anyway.

Maybe it is best to finish 10th, take the draft pick, get Gardiner back for next year and have a really good year.

I don't think we have gone backwards at all. We are 1 away game from being a 50/50 record... same as last year... but we have blooded 6 new players all of which look quality. Mark Thompson is right... we are closer to a premiership now than the last 2 years.

Judd is also not stupid... he knows that the direction we are taking now is that we are going to be a great team in the next 4 or 5 years.....

as for next year... fixtures have a way of working themselves out.... we had a ridiculous fixture this year... next year won't be so bad. The only upside of the fixturing this year was that it was tough until about now where we have home games... unfortunately thats only useful if we are in a good position up to now.
