Thirty years ago yesterday on June 4, 1992 my first Australian cat, Barry, died. It was a Thursday evening when he was put to sleep due to heart problems. I took the next day off from school I was so upset. On Saturday I went to Princes Park with a colleague to watch Footscray play Fitzroy. We won by 62 points but it just wasn't a happy day for me.

Barry was named after Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona who I was fascinated by when I was 12 and he was running for President in 1964. When Senator Goldwater died in 1998 I wrote to his widow and received a lovely handwritten letter from her thanking me and saying that the senator would have been honoured since he loved cats so much. I have Barry's ashes in one of the plastic crates sitting a few feet away from me as I write this. We had 15 years together - 1977 to 1992.

I've named my cats after people, except for my first one in 1966 who I named Friskie. After Barry was Jordan after Michael Jordan, then Lily after my late grandmother who was named Lillian, but called Lil.

Zsa Zsa? LOL Princess!

Yeah names after people are great. Even had a last name one in Fevola that mum suggested that was great.

Are you and the Shell watching all this royal stuff on tv.

Most of it. I watched the Concert this afternoon and caught up with the stuff from Friday on YouTube. I will be celebrating my Platinum Birthday in three months.

Forty five years ago I stood outside of the Victorian Art Centre for four hours to get a glimpse of the Queen as she went in for a Silver Anniversary Concert. Can't believe it was so long ago.

i liked the one where the queen gave her christmas speech about austerity and the need to stay together and poverty from her 775 room house in front of her gold piano

the sooner these vacuous taxpayer leeching suckholes are put up against a wall and shot the better off society will be

kozi what's your favourite Breaking Bad ep, probably a bit controversial but I'm think mine might be the magnets one.

I mean it takes a fair bit of suspension of disbelief but still :grinv1: just a fun episode and it's about the best and last time we see Walt and Jesse getting along and as a true team.

Bit like trying to pick between your kids. Have to go with the S3 finale Full Measure. Dead Freight also right up there, loved that ep.

So far as favourite scenes go this is the most underrated badass moment for mine. Better than the "Say my name" and "I am the one who knocks" ones which always get a mention. And the track they used on full blast. Just amazing.

This brings back memories of teaching in the 80's. Haven't seen it in about 25 years. Very controversial at the time.
