PASTITSO YIAYIAS RECIPE
Bolognese Sauce
I Klg minced meat
1 large onion grated or finely chopped
Leggo Tomatoe paste approx. 4 large tablespoons (or more depending on your taste)
Salt/pepper and a good sprinkle of cinnamon
1. Brown minced meat in olive oil (approximately 5 tablespoons or more)
2. Add grated onion, salt/pepper ….. brown about 4 minutes
3. Add tomatoe paste stir a little more
4. Add hot water so it’s a little above the mixture. (about 1.5 cups or a little more)
5. Sprinkle the cinnamon and give it a stir.
Allow to cook slowly about 1 hour. Make sure its not too runny and most of the water has evaporated.
This can be made the night before
1 packet Penne pasta
1. Boil the whole packet until soft (about 20 minutes)
Bechamel sauce
4 – 5 cups full cream milk
4-5 heaped tablespoons flour (Self Raising or Plain)
3-4 heaped tablespoons butter
Salt pepper
1. Place all of the above ingredients in medium saucepan.
2. Stir continuously over med flame with wooden spoon until it thickens. Take off flame.
BEAT 3 – 4 EGGS IN BOWL AND ADD HALF ONLY TO THE THICKENED MIXTURE
Stir until well blended
Preparation
1. Layer pasta on bottom of tray
2. Add layer of Bolognese
3. Sprinkle parmesan or pecorino cheese on top
4. Sprinkle cinnamon lightly over cheese
5. Add layer pasta and sprinkle a little more cheese if you like.
6. Add Bechamel sauce.
7. Spread the remainder of the beaten egg and dolops of butter on top.
BAKE IN OVEN ABOUT 170 C about 1 hour (or more if at a slightly lower temperature}.

1kg of mince, 5+ tbs olive oil and 4 or 5 heaped tbs of butter.. sounds like a good bulking dish![]()
My lazy pasta is even lazier.When I make lazy pasta all I do is..
Onion and garlic in the pan for a couple of minutes, add mince for a few more, then tinned tomatoes, italian herbs, herb medley, salt and pepper then finally some cooked pasta.
I'll try that one when I can be bothered though something that's baked and isn't lasagne sounds pretty good.
