I was 10 when I got my first pair of glasses, 63 years ago. I wore contacts from '79 to '00 and went back to glasses. Since my cataracts surgery I only use reading glasses, mostly when using my phone. Don't even need them for my laptop.
Wearing my glasses now.

Mine are bi-focal so I can read and look up at the TV without having to take them off. My long distance vision is really good, but I was finding when I was reading/writing/sewing etc and then looked up at the TV or went and used the laptop, it was blurry. The optometrist said it was because the eye muscles were contracting when I was reading.

After typing this post, I looked up at the TV and the footy scores are clear 🙂.

I'm making Southern style chicken from Woolies in my air fryer today. I have ranch and spicy ranch to go with it. I'm also going to make my own chips for the first time in the air fryer. I didn't realise that individual washed potatoes were so expensive. No Doordash this weekend.
Woolworths have a 2kg pack for $5.50 that we bought today...but that's probably too much for you!

The pack is 1.2kg and already breaded. It's convenient to just pop in the airfryer and is more than enough for two meals plus snacks for me. It's KFC like in taste. I bought the Coles version on special and liked it. Thought I'd try Woolies brand for the usual price instead of ordering Doordash or Menulog this weekend.

If I had a decent freezer, I would have bought frozen chips. However, the fridge here has a very small freezer compartment which is useless. I've looked at a couple of counter top freezers, but I don't know if one would be worth the money.

My last glasses were bifocals. My distance vision, especially in my left eye, was horrible. My contact lenses were only for distance. I used reading glasses when my near site worsened. My students said I looked like a professor when I looked up over them in class.

I've not been impressed with the Chinese restaurants around here. Only a few only Chinese. Most Thai/Chinese hybrid. So many Indian restaurants. Not one Greek restaurant. I had a far greater choice when I lived in Keilor East, especially down Keilor Rd in Niddrie.

The chicken was quite good. Just enough spice. There were 9 pieces, so I made three. 15 minutes each side on 200⁰. Chips were good, though I could have kept them in longer. They were done inside, but could have been crisper. I'll leave them in longer tomorrow. Also had a can of Dr Pepper that I got at Woolies. I'm on my third footy game for the day, which makes it five so far this weekend.

I got glasses a few years back but they only made me see like 5-10% better so they weren't really worth the effort of wearing.

Should get them checked again sometime though.
Yeah you should get them checked.

It's made such a difference for me watching the footy and posting at the same time. Although being bifocal glasses I have to be careful not to move my head around!

I live in a very white area, as a result the local Asian restaurants aren't top shelf. Springvale, Clayton and Richmond are way better for those options that's for sure.

Have come to the holiday house. There was bad fog from Werribee all the way to here. Never experienced that before.

Trump asked Emma Thompson out the day her divorce was finalised. Her response was "I'll get back to you" 😂

The British actress, 66, has revealed that she once turned down the current US president’s advances back in the 1998 when he directly phoned her to asked her out on a date.

“He said, ‘Hello, this is Donald Trump,’”
...

“I thought it was a joke and asked: ‘How can I help you?’ Maybe he needed directions from someone.”

“Then he said, ‘I’d love you to come and stay at one of my beautiful places. Maybe we could have dinner.’ I said, ‘Well, that’s very sweet. Thank you so much. I’ll get back to you.’”

Thompson was filming the political satire Primary Colours at the time – a film reportedly based on Bill Clinton’s presidential rise – and Trump had just split from his second wife, Marla Maples.

Likewise, the Love Actually star was fresh from her divorce from British actor Kenneth Branagh, whose divorce was coincidentally finalised the day Trump, now 79, asked her out.

“I realised my divorce decree had come through that day,” Thompson told the crowd at the event. “And I bet he’s got people looking for suitable people he could take out on his arm. You know, a nice divorcee, that’s what he was looking for.”

“And he found the number in my trailer. I mean, that’s stalking,” she jokingly added
