Hey Gerbil King if that draft happens I'll be singing haleferkinlujah for days. I'd say about zero chance of those guys being available at those selections.

"4. Pick 4 Morabito
35. Pick 20 Black
36. Pick 36 Taylor
37. Pick 48 Houghton
38. Pick 49 Craig
39. Pick 52 Hutchings
PSD
kie list
1. de Boer, Matthew
2. Pearce, Clancee
3. Shepheard, Hamish
4. Sibosado, Casey
5. van Berlo, Jay
6. Pick 8 White, Simon
7. Pick 24 Kickett, Cameron"

Dito - I'll sing the same. But I agree Morabito at 4, Houghton at 48 and White as a Rookie yes but the rest highly unlikely.

My wants are looking like this at the moment:

#4 Morabito
#20 Black/Sheppard/Duncan/Panos/Taylor
#36 Panos/Craig/Luff/Houghton
#48 Luff/Houghton
#49 Houghton/Hutchings
#52 Hutchings/Donaldson

Being relatively realistic, I would be looking at...

National Draft
#4 - Morabito (best available)
#20 - Taylor (best available)
#36 - Houghton (tall forward)
#48 - Craig/Luff/Donaldson (tall defender)
#49 - Bartlett/Davies/Hutchings (midfielder)
#52 - Pass

Rookie Draft
First Rounder - Mitch Taylor (tall defender)
Second Rounder - Damian Hayward (ruckman)

1I believe that they are waiting for BoB and Foster to hit the track and see where they are at and how they have recovered from their injuries. It is obvious that neither would be added to our Rookie list with only two spots and we cant carry two more injury prone players.

Why? If we delist Brock and put him on the rookie list we'd essentially upgrade from pick 90 (roughly where our 2nd rookie pick will be in the draft pecking order) for pick 52.

Makes a lot of sense to me.

So what if we only have one pick in the rookie draft, by all reports there won't be many good players in the 3rd round of the national draft so the chance of getting quality in the 2nd round of the rookie draft is highly unlikely.

Pretty disappointing for DeBoer he's been a real find this year and absolutely deserves a full contract.

No doubt he does but Dizzy is spot on. The club is doing the right thing from a list management perspective to maximise our chances of getting some decent players in a thin draft. No doubt DeBoer will be elevated again before round 1.

There's a lot to like about the intelligent (and somewhat ruthless) way Bond and co are managing our list these days. I've never felt so confident about the people in charge before.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us take a mature age player like James Thomson or Jamie McNamara (or even McDonald/Smith if they enter the ND) at 48 or 49 then the best available player in the PSD then a couple of project players in the rookie draft.

Mora + 3 kids
2 players aged 20+
2 kids 190cm+ on the rookie list including a ruckman

I'm still hoping Colyer will be in the mix somewhere, in this obsession for tall athletes lately he's dropped off the radar a bit.

Is there any chance he could be there by our pick 36 assuming we can nab a Panos/Black type at 20?

I reckon it's real possibility that Travis Colyer could be available in the 3rd round due to his smaller size. Then it would depend on whether there was another tall we want was available at 36.
Pick 20 is interesting if our preferred KPPs (e.g. Black/Griffiths) are already taken, I can see us going Shepherd/Taylor/Duncan at 20.

I like the look of this kid Fyfe. Got some real talent.

Could he be a smokie if Taylor/Black are gone by 20?

Also should we consider Craig at 20? From what I have seen he is easily as good as Fitzpatrick/Carlisle and co. The only problem is Port look like they may snaffle him at 16.

I like Craig, but I wouldn't be taking him earlier than pick 36. He could end up being just a tad too short to be a ruckman at AFL level, and if that were to happen, you would have taken a project full back at pick 20.

Fyfe has talent and would be a good pick-up, but he's more of a third tall. And that doesn't help much when you don't have a second tall. But again, he'd be one to consider at pick 36, and I don't actually see him going any earlier.

I've never rated Colyer particularly highly, but his draft camp was very good. And I think that will see him getting drafted inside the first two rounds.

From what I have read and heard the first 19 picks may go something like this:

riority selection
1. Melbourne - Scully

First round
2. Melbourne - Trengove
3. Richmond - Martin
4. Fremantle - Morabito
5. North Melbourne - Cunnington
6. Sydney Swans - Lucas
7. West Coast - Jetta
8. Port Adelaide - Tapscott
9. Port Adelaide - Sheppard
10. Essendon - Rohan
11. Melbourne - Butcher
12. Carlton - Talia
13. Adelaide - Black
14. Sydney Swans - Taylor
15. Western Bulldogs - Carlisle
16. Port Adelaide - Craig
17. Geelong - Moore

Second round
18. Melbourne - Vardy
19. Richmond - Panos

This doesnt leave much in the way of quality talls - Fitzpatrick, Griffiths. We will probably have to for a best available mid here - Duncan, Steven, Gysberts etc. Of course Mora is 191cm - a tall in reality.

For picks 36, 48 and 49 will have to target kpps - Houghton, Luff, Donaldson, Reid, Grimes, Astbury, Hill etc

Delist foster and Obrien for sure
Dont think Obrien is a very quick player and only position for him really is back pocket.
We have more talented, slightly taller and quicker guys that can play that position.
So unfortunately no point keeping him.

Foster shows signs of being an ok depth player at times but is far too injury prone.
We have younger guys who could play at his ability and could draft more so no point keeping him either.

I know Panos has a pretty high BigFooty rating but is he talked about in Adelaide media as a high pick of interest to Port/Crows? How do you rate him?
From what I've seen of his kicking and marking, I think he's decent - not going to be a Pav, but going to be a good forward that you can rely on like Bradshaw imo, maybe a bit less. That is if he lives up to potential. I don't read the papers here (don't get a flipping chance - weekends I wake up my dad has it, then I come back from somewhere and my mum has it then my bro wakes up and takes it! by the time I get it its bed time)

Haha, you're deprived of reading Rucci's gems!
It's hard to guess how many KPP's will be taken by clubs in the first round, many phantom drafts have a lot of KPPs going early.

I'm surprised at people wanting to delist O'Brien. Sure the guy has been injured and missed nearly the whole of the 2009 season. But if we can get him right physically he could be a handy player. He has only played 2 games, one of which was brilliant and one which was forgetable. But the guy is still only 21, plenty of time to show what he can do. I'd hang on to him for next year. I doubt we could recruit anyone better with our lower round draft picks.

Damm Straight. Was looking good in the scratchie last year too before blowing up. Was a real standout.

It looks like we'll pass on pick 52 though AB and our 2nd pick in the rookie draft will be around about the 80th player selected across the 3 drafts.

If we de-list Brock then pick hime with our 2nd round pick in the rookie draft we'll essentially move up around 30 spots in the draft because we'll be able to use pick 52 in the national draft.

When you put it like that it makes a heap of sense. The Rookie list however is often the place where clubs incl. Freo take a risk on a talented kid who may or may not come off also of the age of 18years. With next years draft being compromised I think Freo are more likely to take a couple of kids with their two picks then demote BoB and redraft as a rookie and he is a similar type to Jay VB and Clancee already on the rookie list.

I really think based on potential BoB and Foster are being given one last opportunity to show they are over their injuries and do some impressive things before 2nd list lodgement.

There is a small chance that we could hang on to each and pass completely in the PSD. If the majority of the delisted talent nominate for ND we could select McDonald with one of picks in the 40's and say James Thomson of Claremont at pick 52.

In saying that I reckon we will see further changes :)

BoB is actually quite quick according to the 2006 Draft camp results.
