For what it's worth my rating of the early picks below

1 - Tom Boyd * (1)
2 - Josh Kelly * (2)
3 - Jack Billings * (3-5)
4 - Matt Scharenberg ** (2-12)
5 - Dom Sheed * (6-12)
6 - James Aish * (3-6)
7 - Blake Acres *** (10 – 20)
8 - Christian Salem ** (6-12)
9 - Luke Dunstan **** (12–20)
10 - Ben Lennon ** (5-15)
11 - Kade Kolodjashnij * (5-10)

Legend
(*) = expected landing place in draft
* = NO CHANCE at being there at 12
** = SOME CHANCE at being there at 12
*** = GOOD CHANCE at being there at 12
**** = Almost certain to be there

With Nth taking McDonald we could select one of the above and in reality I would be happy with any of them. Of the others spoken more often in top 12's my views are:

Marcus Bontempelli – Concerned he is the Jarrad Brennan type
Nathan Freeman – Great pace and ball winning – not sure about his disposal – could be a Dangerfield, but I would lean elsewhere
Matt Crouch – In an under player in the style of Tucky (including his disposal) but 181 instead of Tucky’s 189 – just think there are better options at 12

Of the possibles, if one of Scharenberg, Sheed, Acres or Salem lands with us I think it will be another big first pick win. If Dunstan, Lennon or Kolodjashni and we certainly haven't lost.

Cheers

I can confirm that if Josh Kelly is still there at Pick #12, he'll be taken by the Tigers - pretty good source.

Lock it in :D
I heard also that if Boyd is still there at 104 we will grab him.:D

I heard we will pass so not sure where your getting your sources from

Are they showing that incredibly stupid backwards top 10 again on foxtel this year? Will be a very interesting draft to watch... in order.

I think crouch will be the best of what is left, I know he has a shit tank and questionable kick but, I feel he will be a Rory slone clone. Who I would draft every day of the week!

Less than average. Speed he's poor, endurance below average, agility poor, standing vertical poor, running jump below average.

Is it just possible a club has been in his ear and he's playing possum ?

For two years? Doubt it.

Yep that would be my initial response to Kp but given some of the things I've heard regarding clubs maintaining relationships with players long after they've been drafted. I'm not going to discount at least the possibility 100%……. I think the competition for recruits, free agency etc is only going to get hotter..

Anyone know what measures the AFL has in place to prevent this from happening? It seems extremely easy.

Say a prospect tipped to go #3 wants to stay in Melbourne, play for a big club, and thinks Richmond has a list that will peak a year after he walks in the door. He is interviewed by Hardwick and is told the club wants him. He says 'mate I know what I want, I want to play for the tigers. For the rest of the year I'll drop off 20% and I'll interview poorly, maybe I'll post some misleading pictures on Instagram too. I'll tackle hard in the first match to show what I'm made of, then I'll drop off on defensive pressure. Then you take me at 12'

It sounds so easy for a player good enough to know he's guaranteed to be drafted.

I would do that.

Why would I want to play for GWS? Seriously, this is my one chance at making it in the big time - I want professional support by elite coaches and facilities and business opportunities to set myself up post-football. Richmond (or Collingwood) can provide that to me. I'll give the coach a wink, then I'll drop.

Then I'll have a better chance to play in a premiership, which automatically provides countless opportunities post-football.

So are you saying he is doing it or he isn't doing it on purpose?

It's called draft tampering and if the AFL can prove that something suspect went on the club involved would face draft penalties and fines. Not only that but the player would be deregistered and would likely face not being able to play footy anywhere for a couple of years as well. Simply not worth the risk.

Think Scharenberg and Salem will be gone by our pick leaving us with Lennon, who we would take.

Think so too. But one can dream. I know the pies have some interest in Lennon.

I just don't see a need for a for HFF. We have McDonough, Knights and O'Hanlon for that role plus rotate Deledio and Martin through there.
