Love him. Has played big minutes against seniors too and relished.

Gut feel says we'll hear his name called out next Thursday night. Probably won't be a popular pick among the forums but I reckon he would quickly win fans over with his performances.

Personally I think he has all the tools to be a gun midfielder. I marked him down my ranking for awhile because of his testing being poor but really when you watch him play I don't think he looks slow or lacks a tank. I think he moves pretty well, he's 189cm, he's very strong in the air for a medium sized player, can win his own footy when he needs to and whilst only about 80kg, he has the body shape that will fill out into a big kid. He has a damaging kick and can impact the scoreboard. Has star potential and I'll back our current coaching staff to develop him into a midfielder.

being that he plays mostly in the fwd half, whats his Goal Kicking accuracy like?

The Champs can be misleading at times. It's a great indicator for how well they do against better talent but lots of players are played out of position due to the greater talent around them. It's a weird one to assess. You just have to take everything into account. Jones isn't one of them because he did start the year at half-back but he moved into the midfield in the second half of the season and really showed something.

He didn't do the beep test and vo2 max (I'm yet to find out why) but there was no reason to believe he didn't have a tank in his time trial and his repeat sprints were very good.

Yeah I mainly saw in when he was playing half back either for country or the rays. My problem with Jones above say a guy like Dunstan is that Dunstan has that exposed form, plus he has a great tank. I reckon he'd fix up our inside problems, plus he can snag a goal too.

Zak Jones is far from scrawny. James Aish is scrawny.

Indeed. One of those guys with noticeably big calves. I only saw one Stingrays game this year, but he did stand out, to me anyway. Not dazzlingly so, but just in terms of work ethic, disposal and running the whole ground he kept being near and involved with the play.

I'd be comfortable us drafting him.

Jones is one of the safer bets to play 150+ games in this draft.

I'm still holding out hope Sheed somehow gets to us. Would go on a 30 day binge.

So I asked around and Jones' only beep test on record is 13.3 which was in the pre-season. Not much data on him as it was his first season in the Stingrays' squad.

His repeat sprints, 3km time trial and two-way running in games tells me that this was an exception rather than the rule.

I honestly have no idea. I'm privvy to zero information even though I know a few guys in the business because most recruiting teams run a tighter ship than any other department in a footy club.

That's why I take most rumours as absolute BS unless they're only a few days out from the draft.

Going out on a bit of a limb, but if Jones is the person I'm thinking he is from some of the footage I've seen (it all gets to be a bit of a blurr after a while). There was something about him that reminded me of Tom Scully in his draft year. Maybe just the way he moved in traffic........

I know its superficial and personal appearance should have nothing to do with playing ability... but l honestly believe that the reason some blokes are shit and dont fulfill potential is because they like being a ****ing clown in front of their mates. The MFC is a perfect example... Lynden Dunn.

Quality points, if they are playing quality footy in the 1's I could not really care what they get up to though, ala Dusty.
