No worries, to be honest i'm not too concerned - I reckon we'll get a good prospect at our pick. Just feel that Dunstan is the 'safe' option but still with some risk due to lack of pace, especially as we are lacking another quality player with speed-endurance combo. If we get him, the lad will probably become a Richmond vice-captain, premiership player and Dyer medallist just to make me eat my words! :D
best case scenario then :P

Yeah, best case is 5-time Richmond premiership player, 10 year Richmond captain, quadruple Dyer medallist, and triple brownlow medallist. Not asking much, its more an expectation.

Good to see you're being realistic. He could probably do better though.

I love the look of Lewis Taylor, he could be a better version on Brent Harvey (I would only hope he plays as long). He would lock up that forward pocket roll that we have been trying to fill, and he has real speed through the midfield. He is a type of player that gives the tigers another weapon in the midfield and even half back.

Voted Salem but leaning towards bontempelli or acres. Only going off the highlights off the afl page, but think our midfield is lacking that really tall unique player that would finish it off. Deledio and Martin are big to an extent, but if we could develop a 192cm midfielder that can get his own ball, have great skills whilst also being able to take a contested grab it would add a fair bit of flexibility.
Pendlebury a good example as others have mentioned but another one is mundy in the grand final, took over that 3rd quarter with his size and strength and was good enough to finish his own work. Was awesome to watch.

don't think he'll be there come our pick.. I'm hopeful on a tall midfielder apart from that I want someone at least 185cm

Seriously guys, this tall midfielder crap is getting beyond a joke! Ablett, Mitchell, Cotchin, Selwood, Harvey are under 186cm and are some of the best midfielders around. Im pretty sure id take an Ablett over Pendalbury and a Cotchin over Moribito. As long as they can find the ball and is a good kick. Id take him. If there 180cm so be it.

I agree that it's the bite in the dog so to speak, but it would be interesting to get the percentage of players who become solid to very good at AFL level (mid wise) at 175-185cm and over 185cm. Just curious....

I think it's come from a couple of things: 1) Apparently the club has a preference for mids with some height, or at least aren't short. To me that would mean a player about 180cm or above, but some of us are taking that to mean we want a very tall mid, which might not be the case. 2) Attributes such as Outside run with some inside has also been identified as a need by some.

Put the two together, and tall mids like Acres seem to fit the bill, although as you point out, you wouldn't pass on guys with the talent of an Ablett or Cotchin instead, even though Ablett in particular might be considered 'short' at 182cm.

Sounds right. We've taken McDonough, Ellis and Arnot the last 2 years. Not exactly giants of the sport. :D

No doubt you would take ablett over Pendlebury, however we don't have a top 5 pick, and by my understanding everyone from pick 5 to 15 is very even. So with that in mind, would I rather the same quality player at 180cm or 190cm to fill a midfield role? Give me the big boy every time.

A little late the Hawks got him :p

Another thing on tall mids - with Tuck gone, we not only lose some inside bash-n-crash, but he was a good mark around the ground and almost a third marking tall up forward. Some of his contested marking efforts against KPP's was quite surprising. Another tall marking mid would be invaluable imo.

Matty Arnot will offer some crash and bash. Maybe just bash. :P

Agreed... bit of a Nat Fyfe type would do wonders at richmond!

have you got your period? people have different opinions.. we have our small midfielders and losing Tuck means some of us would prefer a taller midfielder.. now relax your flaps and keep dry
You dont need tall midfielders Deledio is 189cm Grigg is 190cm how tall you want them to be? Midfielders are ment to be small. You dont get a 194cm midfielder unless there Adam Goodes.
