The same point you used to name all the sub 186 players that you considered Elite

And it does matter if mids are small or tall , We have Foley,King,Ellis,Conca,Houli,Newman,S.edwards,Arnot,McDonough as 'Small ish" mids with 7 starting 22 and possibly 8 this year with Arnot - We dont really have a big bodied inside mid (tuck) or a big bodied Tagger anymore now that Jacksons not tagging

So to answer your question - There is a point to the question
but Gee mate i hope we dont have to explain every post to you in the future because its just hard work teaching

Actually I'm pretty particular about those sort of things, but any port in a storm I guess.;)

I have a limit too ;)

Did calcium Man make you sorry you said that ?

Yep, posted before I thought it through.

I wouldn't feel too bad. Sometimes you can never really tell where a perfectly innocent statement may be taken.......Bit of a gamble really....but with some of our posters. The end result can be very entertaining :D

It's more important how they play. Midfielders that play tall (i.e. are very strong overhead and can take contested marks regularly) add versatility to the group. Grigg may be 190cm but plays short, same with Judd. Fyfe plays tall so gives another dimension to the Freo midfield.
Acres is in the Fyfe mould. He plays tall. He would add that versatility that we lack.

There's something about Acres that reminds me of Xavier Ellis. I think he looks like he will be a solid player. Lewis Taylor looks like he'd add a lot of energy and offensive zip to a midfield. To be honest I'm not in favour of taking such short players because they are so frustrating when they can't reach a reasonable kick or they present on a lead which just can't be honoured because of their height. Still Lewis will probably prove to be a mid teens pick that teams won't want to gamble on in the top ten that will prove very valuable. Eg Cyril Rioli

Also I'm not enamoured with height. I remember quite a few of us were in favour of cale Morton and Tom swift. I was particularly keen on taking a gamble on swift if he fell through to our second pick. We just need to take the best player.

I would say Vlass is your big bodied inside mid and grigg is your tall tagger.

One thing is certain, Lewis Taylor is not Cyril;)

Have question marks on Grigg as a tagger, and Vlass being the only big bodied inside player is too much of a burden on any player let alone a young one like Vlas.

Fact is Vlas is our only real ruck rover atm, Cotch arguably a centre who can go in the ruck and then we have a few rovers. We seriously lack at least one tall inside mid of high quality. More so than any deficiency in the Ruck since Maric, our ruck rover position really needs addressing before any serious finals tilt this gap is on par with the positional gaps we have in the forward line!

Thanks for posting the link KingJ cheers. Seems a very level kid with a focus on development....I guess time will tell where he ends up.

Not first pick - but with our pick 68, does anyone here think we'd go for a crumbing forward like Malcolm Karpany(SA)?
Anyone here rate - or know anything about him other than what has been written in the media...eg

Height: 175cm, Weight: 71kg, DOB: 1/06/1995
Recruited from: Woodville-West Torrens
Style: Matthew Stokes
Player comparison:
Range: 40-rookie
Profile: Karpany has some real x-factor to him through the midfield and up forward as that really damaging offensive player as that classy/composed type. Has some real pace and agility to him as someone who can break the lines, easily evade any tackle attempts with fakes to create space but then also is a damaging user of the footy. He’s not only a finisher around goals but can also be a real playmaker with his vision and ability to execute by foot excellent. Despite being a smaller type he’s also excellent in the air making his relative lack of height less relevant.

There's a number of us that rate him. Me, TFLUA and Tigerbob at the least. Probably need to take him at pick 50ish though.

Coincidentally the Karpany fan club is based on the Richmond board tigs2010 TFLUA-Tiger
