Big match on Saturday, Fitzroy v Monash Blues, down at the BSO. Lunch on as well starting at 12.00 noon. All money going to sporting scholarships to Fitzroy sporting people. We haven't given one to one of our girls yet and I wonder who will be the first. If you don't get to the lunch come in and put a bid on the silent auction. One of the prizes is a framed 1916 Weg poster!!!!!!

Monash are half a game in front of us, with a slightly better percentage but they have had an easier draw. I do not have the teams but we should have a few back as there was no injuries from last week that I saw.

We probably go in favourites here and we play Parkdale next week which is another winnable match. Two wins and we are back in the finals race.

I don't get it. Is it some sort of university-ey thing that university-ey people might understand?

Not sure if its the same now, but if you were trying to get into Uni in the 80s and 90s, before you got your VCE results, you had to put in your Uni course preferences. You had to get a higher score to get into the better rated Uni's. More often than not it meant Melbourne Uni at the top, and then, 2nd Preference Monash Uni.....

Oh I remember that! I don't remember what I selected now, but I doubt any of them were in Melbourne.
Then I moved to Melbourne and started work. Go figure ...

I want to reply to this post but since I am so old I do not know how to do it and have the quote from the person up on the same thingo.

But here goes. Back when men were men and girls were girls, Monash was were you went when you couldn't get into University. Those of you who are as old as I called the Uni in Parkville 'The Shop' while the southern outreach program of Kew Cottages had a place that was called 'The Farm.

I was proud of the fact that I went to University rather than Monash. I am appalled that now, thanks to the Melbourne Model, that only exists to extract more money from the tax payer, the first preference of most students is out at Monash.

Death to Government subsides and economic models that exist to suck money out of the taxpayer and lets hope for an exciting win to the Roys.

Hey this worked

Thanks DERRINALPHIL I kind of understand it better now. I do remember "having to" list three selections in the final year of that thing I went to where the other kids studied. One of them may have been some college in Bendigo, everything is blurry. But I ended up in the school leavers intake system of the SECV and built my empire* from the ground up.

* May or may not actually have an empire.

Yes the commute past there would be about as close as I ever got to a uni. At least I could say I got a pass. :)
Haha I'm trying to remember if I've ever even been on the grounds of a uni, but I did watch the Fitzroy Reds play Banyule in a practice match once, that was at a uni (La Trobe maybe?).

It really is like another world to someone who didn't get on the tertiary schooling wagon. All these 19 year olds acting like anything they think matters :D
