Good point about a Ruckman. We pretty much have to trade one in. If we draft one it could be too late by the time they are ready. We probably need to draft one and trade one in once Cordy is delisted. Use our second rounder to draft a good ruck prospect.

T.Boyd is going to have a lot of quiet games. I think its good for him to play a bit of ruck and get around the ground. He has good skills and decision making.

There's nothing at all wrong with that scenario. Look at a lot of the top sides of the past decade. They have rarely developed ruckmen, letting other sides do it before trading them in when they are ready to challenge. Pies with Jolly, Swans with Jolly, Hawks with Big Boy, Cats with Ottens, Swans with Mumford. It's the way to go.

Hell - we did the same with probably our best ruckman since Wynd (The Beard).

I will like to land zac smith from goals coast somehow. Maybe a second round pick and a player.. A think he is the type of Ruck man perfect for us.. Anyone agree?
nar, plus this isn't the right thread for this convo

1. We have an elite core of young guns coming through together, surrounded by a very small cadre of experience , its a list that as it stand is still a little out of balance in favour of talented but completely unproven midfielders. Its a position that we have been in many times, the one noticeable difference is the comparatively small number of recycled players that we currently have on the list in comparison to our years of relative success, where we were forever looking for that "hail Mary" top up trade on the cheap. If I never see those types of trades again, it'll be too soon.

2. Our tall stocks are still paper thin. The bookends look to be set, Talia despite last years unfathomable selection decisions looks to have finally had some faith placed in his ability to compete at the highest level by the match committee a faith that he is already beginning to repay, but he still looks best suited to replacing Morris' lock down role deep in defence for mine. We desperately need a hard working, marking CHF and CHB. Hamlin looks best suited to playing as a 3rd tall at either end of the ground. Campbell, Roberts, Redpath and Cordy all have massive question marks about their ability to command a place in the team. From where I sit - safely in front of my keyboard - None have any attributes other than those that are at best of being workman like.

3. Luke Beverage is not from the school of coaching thought that requires players to take two steps forward and one step back as a way of teaching players to play to instruction. He looks to be more willing to let players play with flair and take the game on. Something that comes naturally to a team made up predominantly of young men still finding their way in the game.

4. Whether it was by accident, catastrophe or design, last years trade period will be seen as the "recession that we had to have." We'll look back on it in years to come as an absolutely pivotal time in the history of our club, not only from the point of view of bringing in a once in a lifetime FF, but in the way that it will galvanise our list around the aforementioned core of young guns, after years of senior player and coaching leadership instability.

5. I like puppies and rainbows and MD still likes to talk about himself.

Gibberish of the week, Patrick?
