What would you prefer; a flag with Richo, but only the one,

or

Multiple flags without Richo, say a three-peat?

Tough, I know.

I'd take the one with Richo.
He deserves it more than any of us!

Not tough at all for anyone who supports THE CLUB over individual players....:thumbsd:

Thats selfish.
What have you done to deserve three flags, that Richo hasn't done to deserve one?

Richo. I have to agree with fish its Richo. He's not only a legend of our club but of the game.

EDIT:I just realized what the thread was really asking, flags as in premierships. I was thinking of flags that like you wave. I'm an idiot. Anyway it does make it alot harder I would probably vote for the 3 without the great man. As much as I want him to win one, I'm sure if you asked him he would want to see the club go through a successful era. Its a very hard choice though.

I often wonder what it's like to be a good football club. Me not knowing, the OP is much harder to answer. Just as an example, throughout the year, a number of Cats supporters thought they had the flag wrapped up. I remember reading some posts on here saying things like 'Just play that kid. Doesn't really matter, we're going to win the flag anyway'. Got me thinking that when we come good, which will be very soon, and in particular if we become very, very good, I'd never want to think like that. I'd imagine it would just completely ruin the enjoyment of football - you win the flag, and it's just what you were expecting, or you lose and you're absolutely shattered.

I sort of know the feeling but to a lesser extent. 95 I can't say I really remember, but 2001 I remember feeling disappointment when we didn't win as well as we should have etc, and even this year it started to come back a bit, whereas in the last few years, and for most of my life, I'd take any sort of win at all, and even sometimes respectable losses weren't terrible.

Anyway, this post is going around in circles a bit, and is losing a lot of relevance to the topic. I guess the basis of it is that, without having experiencing it much first hand, it seems to me like the better your team is, the less you are satisfied, and even the less you care. When you are down the bottom for so long, you just want so badly for your team to come good, but when they finally do, you just seem to take it for granted. No matter what they do, you always want them to have done a little better. Basically, footy's a ****.

Anyway. To sum up, without having experienced the feeling of winning a flag, the question is too hard to answer.

But even this year, people were comparing Geelong to the Lions 01-03. If a team can be so well respected for winning just one, (admittedly in awesome fashion), then I think it would be perfect for Richo to get it.

GTF - people saying 1 flag with Richo wouldn't be saying so because we get to know he won one. People genuinely want him to experience the flag personally. Us knowing that he contributed doesn't get us far in terms of that.

I know that Fish. But I'm sure he will be able to appreciate that as well. As Haggard's article said "He will be one of those guys in the cheersquad with badges of the players all over him."

Its tough though. I would love the big man to get one. The original question was "what would you prefer?" so I'm going to have to go with the 3 flags. Empathizing with Richo just doesn't get over the line, for me.

Hey Crabstick, your essay could've been summed up easily by that last line of yours.
Not really. That line was just to try to link it back to the topic. The rest of it was just a beautiful, tear provoking piece of writing. Heaps better than Haggard's Almanac piece.

I reckon Richo would rather see the Tiges win 3 than him win 1. He lives and bleeds for the club.

HAHAHA. You ARE an idiot :p

Tough question. Can Richo be on the coaching staff for our three-peat?

I'd probably still take the 3 flags. Unless we're talking about 3 flags at any time. I'd rather win one with Richo in 2010 and then another 30 year drought than wait until 2038 for a trifecta.
