Players who can player in multiple positions are more crucial now than they ever have before.

So who in our team is multi-dimensional in position or role? Is there anyone who isn't? Is there any players were should never move/change role?

For mine the midfielders need to be the most flexible along with the ruckmen. I see Dusty and Caddy alternating between inside midfield and forward pocket. Cotchin and Prestia from midfield to forwardline too though the percentage of time forward would be far less than Dusty and Caddy imo. Hampson and Nankervis could switch between ruck and forwardline with a 70/30 split.

Vlaustin and possibly Yarran would also rotate through the midfield, Flossy as an inside mid and Yarran as an outside/wing.

The only players I would feel comfortable with staying in their role for the entirety of a game is Rance and possibly Jack, Astbury & Grimes.

This is where players such as Lennon who can not play through the midfield is at a loss. Lloyd seems to push up the ground but I haven't seen this of Lennon. Rioli needs to develop the ability to spend more time of the wing too and duplicate Edwards capabilities to utilise his quick hands to clear the ball from stoppages. He's still too slight at the moment to make an impact in congestion.

Miles, Eliis and Grigg are fairly one dimensional. They can push forward into space but can't rest forward effectively imo.

Everyone inside our 4 walls knows their roles.
BF exclusive.

I see Hunt in the team because of his flexibility. He can play as a tagger, high half back, wingman and small forward at a pinch. This is why someone such as Miles, Grigg, Lennon, Batchelor, Maric, etc may find themselves struggling to fit in the team in the future. Coaches need to adapt the team to exploit oppositions weaknesses and fix problems when things aren't going to plan.

No team flexibility means no Plan B

When I see an Alex Rance at CHF as some kind of change up to snag a win from the jaws of defeat i will know we have flexiblity...thnk about how many times our esteemed leader has actually made a change in the midst of us being shat on...he sits there hoping the graph will eventually turn our way

I agree with you here Cogga. I don't see players switched around when things are going pair shaped. The last time Dimma tried Rance in a new spot it did go pair shaped though. One successful switch was when he played Chaplin forward but that was more to keep Westoff accountable rather than be proactive himself.

How well our resting rucks and mids go in the forwardline will be a huge factor in our overall scoring numbers this year. This is why Leppa's role will be so important. I feel our backline is a strong settled unit but our forwardline has been a one man show for far too long. How Leppa sets our forward line up and gets them working together is what I'm most interested in. I see them all as independent units atm where they should be collectively working at scoring and locking it in. If we have players rotating through there then their roles need to be set in concrete too.

I won't dampen your optimism dude but we ain't got a FL and we are 1 injury away from playing Batch on resting ruckmen down back so batten down the hatches.

I think Ben Lennon should be able to be interchangeable with the poster on the Richmond train station, You see them both and both look good but they never move, always in the same position costing more money every week

Hate to be a spelling nazi but you spelt stiff wrong but otherwise good post.
