Flooding in the final weeks

There are actually a couple of plausible ways we scrape into 8th. Basically we can either go in with Port and Hawthorn and Sydney fall out or we need to beat Port/Carlton well enough to catch up their percentage and knock them out.

But they require very specific sets of results (although not requiring carlton/suns to win games or anything miraculous like that).

Its gonna be tough but its more of a possiblity than I thought (1% up to maybe 3 %).

Club will keep going until we can't do it (most likely when we lose 1 of the next 2).

It actually makes the Melbourne loss that much more annoying because we would have been able to take another loss.

What makes it completely implausible is that we are required to win all remaining games. That won't happen.

The club needs to be realistic. 1. We aren't making finals. 2. Even if we made the finals(which we won't) we would be out first week and clearly making up the numbers. I understand the club needs to sell hope. They have been selling it for 20 years and are masters of the sell. Maybe it's time to take a realistic look of where we're at as a club and start managing for success instead of focusing on selling hope. Just a thought.

Mind you, putting everyone out to pasture and getting a higher draft pick is also an exercise in selling hope.

It's not like 2015 when we were a team on the rise and needed some finals experience. Last year we were thinking about sewing up a top 2 spot and now we are reduced to discussing our 5-30% chance of making the eight. I'll be the first to put my hand up and say I was very optimistic right up until the Alice Springs match, but our season has gone through various degrees of 'over' since then.
My glass is so empty I thought we were screwed after the Collingwood game.
That showed me that we weren’t serious.

I had serious doubts after that match but thought we were still a show considering we had a few similar shockers in 2017 and made the GF, and our wins over Richmond and Sydney this year. Neither of those wins are looking great in hindsight - Sydney are in danger of missing the eight and the reigning premiers turn to shit as soon as they get into Tullamarine's departure lounge.

Gws due for a loss. We know sides can't stay up much longer than 6_8 weeks

We play a style that traditionally bothers them

We will be up and about after our win today
