I know we won (and of course I was happy for it), and we had a good hard game
....
....
BUT
....
....
I've just watched it and, in some phases, I was bored as hell.

We all know it is Sydney's brand style of football, and we might be going this way. But seeing two teams consistently flooding made the game barely watchable. Even the crowd wasn't getting much into it. I must say it is the first time I've watched a footy game and the people in the stands was completely SILENT  !! It was a first for me, I even wonder if there was something wrong with the crowd mic's for Channel 10.

Thank god for the Riewoldt tackle in the 3rd quarter. That got many people cheered up and from then on I could hear them get louder, finally.

I was quite happy the way we played.

Yes there was a flood on, but you have to think that this hasn't been the case in most games this season with us. We have on occasions but not this bad.

Obviously it was a plan to beat the ultra defensive Swans, and it worked.

What REALLY impressed me though was how he beat there flood and won. In the last few years we would of become impatient and just blazed away into the forward 50 from 80m out. Normally thus resulting in a turnover, and then in most instances, the ball coming back over our heads and resulting in a goal the other way.

That was last year. This year we waited for the opportunity. We waited for an option, a man to free himself up, instead of bombing to a contest.

Last season we looked like a deer caught in the headlights when we faced a flood. This season we took our tie, took in the situation and played well enough to beat it.

I was happy.

I think that your change of tactics can be attributed to Ross Lyon who knows the Swans flooding tactic like the back of his hand.

On another note i agree with the original poster that for parts of the game it was rather dull with little to no action. Most Swans games are alot more exciting than that.

I'd certainly put it down to Lyon, but not for the reason given ...

As I posted originally, whenever we faced a flood over the past few years, we regularly got beaten. Sydney isn't the only team that floods you know ... ;)

I think that Grant Thomas just didnt know how to deal with it. We were a lot more assured and confident this week. We looked for targets and took our time. We took the right options and one.

Over the past few seasons we would just blaze away and then watch the ball rebound over our heads for an easy goal against us. That didnt happen on saturday which was fantastic to see.

i went to the match i was quite happy with the game over all, but i wasn't happy that the umpire had to step in and give reiwoldt a free kick every ten seconds.

Coming into the Saints forum and posting a statement like that. Whats the matter mate - not getting enough attention at home ?

He got 4 frees for the game, not quite one every 10 seconds.

Whats with all the moronic trolling Noobs who joined in the last few days?

Back to the thread question. I'm sort of with Big Ted, but I can't say I'm *happy* we flooded to that extent. I wouldn't want to see this every week, but I am *happy* with the way the boys implemented it & controlled the game & I feel that they just had to do it to combat the AFL's Swan's game plan.

End of the day I'd rather 4 points than have another team control the game & beat us.

I have deleted a few of Boric1's more stupid posts, and you can see by the yellow card in the bottom right hand corner of their posts, I have sent Boric1 and ahmed a warning.

I was going to let more of these moronic posts through for everyone to see, but I think I'll just delete them as they appear.

Boric1 is very close to earning my wrath.

After an IP check - it turns out that Boric1 and ahmed are the same person - who would have thunk it
