Like to get some opinions of doing business with Tiger air. By business I mean booking a flight on a boxing day special, online , for 4th of January , suddenly getting an email saying you've booked for the 4th of May 2018 , not 4th January????? Has happened its true!

"I want to emphasize that the month January and the date the 4th was clicked on!!!!" NOT MAY!

Beware this airline Tiger , in fact be sure to confirm you aren't being diddled instantly, by not leaving a day or two before confirming by your booking by email.

The off shore call centres do not give a damn about you, and beware the online , "its your choice to book online " comment from the Philippines call centre, enraged me! Sort of tough luck!

I cannot believe the airlines in Australia and the authorities that control this, do not force honesty in these companies.
Now I believe Singapore and Virgin have some thing to do with Tigerair, so beware, double check and don't get robbed by trickery.
This probably could apply to Qantas as well. But I don't know, I use Virgin.

But really the east/ west travel in Australia is just a cash cow with one way fares going from $200 hundred dollars to $800 dollars depending on the time they want to profiteer, and they all do it.

Even the cheap skate flyers. Quite serious question this. Watch out.

Use only Virgin, Qantas and reputable full fare airlines, low cost means high risk.
Jetstar (Qantas subsidiary) is a useless basketcase of customer care, as are all low cost airlines.
Low cost = low care factor

Think I heard Tiger was voted worst airline in the world.

Mate of mine booked a flight to Melb. The pilot called in sick. Delayed the flight for 10 hours. Tiger offered each passenger a voucher for a free coffee as compensation...

Lucky dip airline.

Only fly Qantas.

Never had an issue.

Pay peanuts, get monkeys.
Tiger are good for cheap fares if you have no deadline / special event.

Otherwise use Qantas or Virgin.

I've flown Jetstar quite a bit, including internationally and had no issue. Flights were changed due to weather and they were quite accommodating. The in flight service isn't as good as Qantas, Etihad or Emirates, but the flight isn't your holiday, it's your mode of transport. I'll never understand paying more for flights than I absolutely have to.

Yeah I'm always super nervous booking online that I will stuff the dates up.
I check several times, taking a screen shot of the page before clicking purchase isn't a bad idea either, just in case something does go wrong.

That said I don't ever look at tiger so can't comment on their service

Sounds like OP ****ed up the dates.

For me, it's Jetstar pretty much every time. They're cheap and generally reliable. Delays are usually minimal, and if they do seriously **** up your trip they tend to be pretty reasonable about compensation.

Tiger, I would consider but only if the price was rock-bottom and my timing was extremely flexible. I have heard too many bad stories about cancelled flights etc.

Personally I think you're a mug if you fly Qantas or Virgin domestically on your own dime. The price premium just isn't worth it for a couple of hours in the air.

Honestly never had a problem with Tiger. Jetstar add 4 hours as they are always late.

Otherwise catch 22. I fly because they are cheap and I want to get somewhere. Otherwise I wouldn't probably travel as much.

Problem with Tiger (in Melbourne at least) is to save costs they don't rent their own gate space or something (caught a flight with one of the management team once and he was explaining) so they get lowest priority to board and take off.

I really don't know how they make a profit. I think to save they just use the hangers and go back and forth and keep the plane in the air for as long as possible.

Yeah, for these reasons when Tiger has a problem they REALLY have a problem. Cancelled flights, diversions to Adelaide, etc.

Jetstar delays are annoying but they generally don't **** up your entire trip.

Always fly Qantas, work flies with them so using accrued FF points / status credits and lounge access / priority seats for holidays or personal trips is a very nice fringe benefit.

Have always found the service to be of very high standard to be honest, never had a delay of more than an hour whether domestic or international and as mentioned enjoy the accrual benefits of loyalty so have linked up rewards credit card, uber etc. so even if stopped flying out as frequently for work I'd stick with them which I guess is an example of successfully developing brand loyalty.

Never flown Tiger, but I think out of the 8 or 9 times I would have flown Jetstar I've only been delayed once and it wasn't an overly painful delay.

They were even super early arriving in NZ once and my friends who came to the airport to surprise me missed me entirely [emoji28]

The one time I was going to fly with Tiger they cancelled the flight and put me on a Virgin flight leaving 45 minutes later.
