I have recently started to take up an interest in food vans and want to know other peoples opinions/views.

Anyone know someone who has/had a food van?
What makes a good food van?
Any good recommendations of food vans to try?
Likes/dislikes on food vans?

You watched a show called my strange addictions?
No, why was there an episode on food vans?

I live in the inner North East and have stopped at a few over the past 3-6 months. Now one has opened up an actually store near my place and has been doing rather well. It has increased my curiosity in them

How did you find the food-service?

The food has been pretty good. Tried the taco truck and the burgers at dude food man. Service was as good as I would expect off a fast food type service

Ridiculous

As if there aren't enough eateries in Melbourne?

They ought to get off the main roads because they cause obstruction and possible hazard.

Are they actually on roads? I just realised what one meant by a food can earlier and the only ones I've see. Seem to have a permanent residency in car parks.

if u want to start a food truck i would research all food trucks in LA, read reviews and find out what concepts are good/different. food trucks are amazing there.

cross-check that with the information you can find about what food trucks are in melbourne to identify any potential gap in the market.

check with the councils u intend to operate the truck in, i'm guessing yarra, moreland, stonnington etc and find out what sort of red tape you've got to get across.

employ photogenic/outgoing hipster service staff ---> bribe foodbloggers to write about your truck ----> profit???

Chimichurri Grill is delicious, I also like Sneaky Pickle and Hornet Grill. Of course these are all in Adelaide.

Key is food eatable without a knife and fork- burgers, wraps, etc. Gotta be able to turn it over quickly. I stopped going to Burger Theory when the waits became ridiculous, though with the bigger kitchen at their shop that's no longer a worry and the burgers are as good as ever.

What I like about Burger Theory is the simplicity of the menu. Rather than trying to do a number dishes, they just do a couple but do them really well. It's a good model to follow.
