For the record ....

* Saying dont pay the farm for Tarrant does not equate to we dont want Tarrant ...it means ummmmm dont pay the farm.

* Because there is the odd turkey in a top 10 pick ....does not mean we should always trade our top pick.

* Taking Solomon will need to be at a very reasonable price ...he may be tough but he aint quick and Subi is big.

* ;) For all of those we trust the club 100% - I expect never to see a post questioning why Dessie/Medders isn't playing WAFL or why such and such is not getting a run.

Sabre I hear you ....I think you would agree with the above.

Look we all love Freo - I think you build to a flag .....we shouldnt bet it all on Taz, if we dont attract him our squad will still get better. Others think we are in that final top up period to grab a flag and Taz is the answer.

Who knows but go Dockers....whatever happens it should be another competitive year hopefully with Sept glory - we are becoming good enough - with or wihtout Taz to challenge on that one day in September.

I post with a fair bit of emotion sometimes.
Resulting in people responding with emotion, doesnt bother me at all.

I certainly agree with everything you have said here, to be contoversial again....

Chick was on offer when Headland was
Stenglien was on offer when J Carr was.

Freo ended up with Headland and J Carr...While the eagles ended up with Stenglien and Chick.

We payed allot more for our two than the eagles paid for theirs...And since joining their perspective clubs freo havent exactly got value for money compared to the eagles.

All I want at the end of the day tommorrow is a decent draft pick and a crack at the talent on offer this trade.
That is all.

well personally I think J Carr >> stenglein or chick. AS for Dessie - yeah has been infuriating at times, but of the 4 trades you mention, well 1 out of 4 trades is always going to stutter.

Josh Carr has been excellent for Freo. He's 26 now so may have another 5 or 6 years at the top level. I think he's one that will get smarter and better with age too as pace is not important to his game. I am very happy he is at the club. Headland is 25. Occasionally he has shown how very good his best is. If we get a great year out of him it may be the year we go all the way.
Chick's been exceptional for the Eagles but can't have long left at 31. Stenglein is consistently good and was a great pickup. Overall I don't see too much we've done wrong. Headland looked a champ with Brisbane and I thought we were very lucky to get him at the time.

Fair points Moo.

The only thing I was trying to say with my thread was that disagreeing with the trade is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some people were saying it was a disgrace/ a disaster so I was just trying to put things in perspective.

If the trade goes through though, I am sure everyone will back Tarrant 100% and that is the main thing. It may come off, it may not, but if the coaching staff believe it is a calculated risk worth taking, then I am fully behind it... as long as it is only a draft pick and/or Polak/Medhurst.

I wasn't trying to say everyone should be in favour of the trade because we all have different ideas on which direction we want the club to head.

We paid one more 3rd round pick for Carr. Eagles traded 1st and 2nd round. We traded 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

On that, Josh Carr was a bloody good trade.

Thats still a high price for just one player... I know Josh has been good but Port got pretty good Compensation for him...

The picks that we traded ended up being Adam Thompson, Pat Garner and Justin Sherman...

Ahhhhh group hug.

I am still kicking your bum in NBA fantasy BBall though Kenny ;)

Sabre, please...

What we gave for Josh Carr is a bargain, as said we gave up 1 pick in 3rd round, for what he has given to the club you could understand why he was held in such high regard. The eagles got Stenglein for 1 pick less, who would you have, you focus too much on the negative, draft picks are lotto picks - as Gump says, you never know what you are gonna get, look at 3 yrs ago Dunn, Waters..its easier doing picks because they are numbers.

We can all wax lyrical about what we could have picked if we kept it, if Freo get Tarrant they know what they get - be behind them FFS, I dont care who they trade or what they get as long as they win....the club is bigger than any individual - get behind it, them..you know you do...

For what its worth even though dessie cost the pick he is still 5 yrs younger and as you know experience counts...he could be the 30yrs old chick - ahem...still 5 yrs

F@#k ya GO FREO - -
Heave ho...man i wish i was over there

I say this.. if Taz comes..

"Yay Taz, your a star! wooot woot!"

if he doesn't

"boo taz you dud booo"

Carr is better than Stenglein and was a good deal IMHO. Stenglein is predominantly a tagger while Josh Carr is now being tagged. If we had recruited Stenglein what would Matt Carr do if Stenglein was getting the tagging jobs? And Stenglein only wanted to play for west coast because Chad Fletcher is his best mate.

Hawthorn wouldn't trade with us in 2002 because they were unhappy with receiving picks 20 and 36 for McPharlin. Des has been a MASSIVE disappointment, but the trade looked like a pretty good deal at the time. Pick 5 in a poor draft and a HBF for a 21 year old midfielder and former number 1 draft pick who looked to be a superstar in the making. At the start of the pre-season comp in 2002 Headland was brownlow favourite. To me it looks like football isn't his number one priority and a couple of months at subi would be beneficial.

I don't want ot pay over the odds for Tarrant and like others think that we should have targetted a midfielder, but the deals you have mentioned were okay when they happened. It's easy to criticise a trade with the benefit of hindsight.

Save the booing for Polak when we play against richmond (or wherever he ends up). Disappointing that it looks like he has said it's either the tigers or he goes into the PSD, he could have atleast nominated 2 or 3 clubs that he would play for that were also interested in him. By only wanting to play for richmond he has greatly diminished our bargaining power.

Hopefully he strikes out at richmond. ;)
