Presumably you have a similarly low opinion of Yarran then.
Yarran gets the cheap stat, but then turns it into an 80m possession with his run and carry. Invaluable

Heppell is more the Dane Swan of the half back line. Racks up the stats, but u wouldn't even know he was out there.. That may change in the future, but at the moment heppell is far from a damaging player.

I'm not going to get into an argument on your board, you're entitled to your opinion. All I'll say is that you haven't seen Essendon play enough if you don't think Heppell follows up his possessions, and that he is actually very damaging, as a majority of attack in modern footy comes from the half-back line and Heppell's precision ball use sets constantly sets us up.

Of course, I meant no slight to Yarran in this thread. He's an exceptional player.

The Blues have played the team with the winner of the Rising Star award in their first final. Spooky

Hopefully this time we can get the win.
A work mate (WCE fan) pointed this out to me yesterday as (silly) proof of why we won't beat Essendon on Sunday.

But.......the last two years, the Elimination Final featuring the Rising Star winner was won by the home team...

An omen, or am I reaching a little too far?

But there is a difference. Sydney and Brisbane were the 5th team and now we are the 5th team. Dont understand why the last two years would put pressure on us. How did we choke in the last two years when we were the 8th team travelling interstate?

Our season this year alone should be the reason why we are under pressure. Add to the fact that we are playing those people.

A win is a must.

Exactly what ive been thinking in regards to those last 2 finals.

We were $3+ underdogs in both games and gave an outstanding account of ourselves. Arguably should of won if we had had a little more compusure in the last 1/4 (Waite missed goal...still burns me).

This Carlton team to me comes across as one who will thrive in finals type pressure...

I thought we started favourites in the Brisbane game in '09? I remember we beat them twice that year. That was the first final I'd seen the boys play since 2001, and I was 7 then and had no interest in the Blues. Never been more devastated in my life than when we lost, time for redemption.

What the **** is this shit!

Dyson Heppell is absolutely quality and he would be one of our most damaging midfielders!

Why is it that Carlton supporters have an insatiable desire to belittle the quality players of opposition teams?

Heppell is going to be a gun player for years but he is not a match winner this year. Awesome by rookie standards, average by seasoned veteran standards.

I'd want Heppel in a second and laugh that GC missed the best first year player with all their picks :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:.

Aside from due respect, he is not a concern compared to other players in the Bombers squad in 2011.

All three play in a team with 21 other players. .. spooky. ..

I do like this coincidence though. .. Rising star and home team won. .. I'll take it. ..

All are white. .. spookily racist ;)
