Yersterday Sun had an artilce under the headline "Why Geelong must find itself a freak show" . It points out that Geelong has not had one goal kicker kick a bag of 5 or more.Every other team has had that happen at least twice.

I have said a similar thing although not quite the same. To think nobody has kicked more than Thurley is a bit numbing. After Steve the Dog we really lack creative forwards. As much as Rockin Ronnie was frustraiting, he was creative.
Watching todays U18's there was a kid playing for Tassie that would be handy Todd Grimma kicked a lazy 10 against NT. Whether we go for him or not I think we do need a sombody capable of having a day out

If you think about it, it doesn't help that half our forwards are constantly switching between roles in and out of the forward line. Players like Ottens, Chapman, and Ablett are constantly switching roles from the forward half to the center of the ground.

Kent has kicked 5 or more 8 times, and 4 or more 21 times
Dog 5 or more twice, and 4 or more 5 times.
Mackie .....
Thanks Nana , so basically 3 out 10 games he will give around 4 goals but less than 1 in 10 more than 4. He must be due for bag.
And I have no problem with SJ as a guy who could chip in, when fit
Mackie has yet to prove to me that he has the ability put solid day together with out being able to be stopped by a heavy hit. The guy has talent but Im not sure is strong enough to get the job done.Actually Im still not sure he was worth a top10 pick but thats another subject.
So , with SJ games restricted , KK is being left to hold up the forwardline. That a fair bit of pressure for a player most think is a 3rd tall.
A couple of guys with goal sense would be welcome, I feel. sombody like an Arron Davey would be just fine with me

you passed him over a couple of times
Good on the Dees for giving him a chance as a Rookie, dont forget you passed him over three times as well.
The Rookie system is a fantastic second chance for those missed.Just like our Shannon Byrnes some guys who are deemed longer shots just need more time or a chance to show they are worth a spot.

Question: how many losses this year do you think have been due to our forward line?

Round 2 def by West Coast - we kicked 8.14 to 12.12
Round 3 def by Melbourne - we kicked 8.18 to 18.6 (Dees played awesome match)
Round 10 def by Fremantle - we kicked 11.16 to 14.7
Round 11 def by Collingwood - we kicked 14.12 to 18.13
Round 13 def by Brisbane - we kicked 6.11 to 17.14 (Aka the difference and missing so many players)

The thing that stands out is inaccuracy. This can be put down to the forwards - having 20+ shots at goal in all but the match against Brisbane. This means that the midfield got it in there enough but the forwards couldn't finish the job.

However, personally, I think when we've lost it has been due to other reasons (missing targets around the ground, stop-start football, players out of form or out injured, etc.) and pointing the finger at the forward line is an easy answer because on paper it looks to lack fire power.

It is all well and good to paste pictures of players, but the reality is those 2 do not get on the park enough....

Yet the main point by Turbo was which players were capable of having a day out.

Given time, I'd argue Mr. Mackie is more than capable of having a day out.

Ablett Jnr is having a down year when forward this year, he's normally a creative forward...and Chapman is always good value for a goal or more.
I agree we are definitely missing a bit creative class in the forward line and have seemed this way for quite a while now, but if SJ comes back soon and gets going (Please, not more injuries!!)...I think we could be more than OK in this department.

I think Mackie will make it, but probably still won't have a physique for another season or two. Obviously Steve Johnson is our most destructive forward, but our most reliable forward - and I bag him more than anyone - is still Kingsley. The one guy we've got capable of kicking 5,6,7 in a game.

There are others of course, you'd think Playfair might run rampant against a crap side, and if Ablett gets the radar on target he could go nuts.
