I've long thought our midfield was our achilees heel but now our forward line is proving to be.

Ballentyne, Headland will be great inclusions when they are both fit but we really lack a Mooney type with Pav in the middle.

I like the Pav move but as the midfield gets depth hopefully he can move back fwd and then having Pav, Ballentyne and Headland with Sandi resting up there we have some potency.

Murphy, Campbell have has there chances never going to be a solution IMO. Thorton is great up fwd (he was a forward as a junior) and should remain as if he marks it inside 50 he will kick a goal..

Thoughts?

Wait until the half season break and then get my main man Sibosado in.

Until then prey that Balla is Ok and get in the younge Clarke and get some games into him.

Might have to also try the kepplar up forward, but we really need a skilled small forward ASAP and we DONT need to give Murphy another go.

and remember chris mayne is set to return in the 2nd half of the season hopefully. he really lifts the foward line defensive pressure, and did some really good things late last year.

will be a great inclusion when he is fit.

I agree its time to put in Ballantyne, Mayne (when fit), Sibasado etc and stop trying to use the likes of Murphy (not afl level), Mcpharlin/Johnson (Not afl forwards).

I would also be very keen to draft someone like Butcher from Vic Country if we get a top pick which looks likely. He is a KPF who has starred as a junior and is a great contested mark. Also someone like Richardson/Dennis Lane as a small forward could be an option late in next years draft.

It obviously isnt going to dramatically improve this year but give the young guys a go and put the others guys back to their natural positions either in the backline or in the wafl.

Its hard to get a read on our forward line when our midfield was getting spanked in the clearances in the third quarter. When we did manage to win clearances we seem to score.

Added to that is no Mayne, Ballantyne, Headland or Hayden -- who has been playing off a wing or HFF. We put Headland up there and he kicks 2 in a quarter. Then we lose him and Johnson.

Added to that you lose Palmer and Crowley from the midfield and it increases the need for Pav to spend time in the midfield.

I think we still lose games in the midfield esp. when you have the likes of Schammer and de Boer missing shots they should get.

ATEOD, if we could get a first class clearance specialist with a decent kick to replace Pav in the middle we would have a whole different look. You put Pav up forward with McPharlin and Johnson and Mayne and Ballantyne. Johnson playing as a third tall forward is a real mismatch.

Sibsado could be our great hope for the forward line.

He has come on in leaps and bounds this year. After starting in the ressies for Claremont and getting only a handful of touches in his first few games he has started to impose himself on the game of late.

Reports are that they have been trying him in a few different roles including pushing him up the ground to get him involved in the game a bit more.

He has responded well with a bag of 6 goals in one game and a big increase in his possession tally. He is probably one that has really benefited from being in a professional football environment. It seems his increase in fitness is a big factor behind his improvement also.

18 possies in his league debut for Claremont is another step in the right direction.

Seems that Sibsado would offer something different to Ryan "Dan Parker" Murphy. Sibsado can take a grab but offers much more at ground level and seems much more versatile. Would love for Sibba to develop a bit of mongrel in his game (on the defensive side especially).

Lets hope he continues his improvement and gets rewarded with an elevation.

I dont think Pav adds enough to the midfield to warrant him being taken from the forward line. Keep Pav forward and hopefully a midfielder will step up.

Yep. And plenty this year.

I don't see a problem with giving him a five game run ala Ryan Murphy earlier this season. Make or break styles.

He can take a mark, and is a sensational kick for goal. It is more than we have down there at the moment. With a crumber like Balla at his feet it would be nice to have a real contest in the forward line instead of Murphy's powderpuff efforts.

Although I do think our best full-forwad option on the list is DJ.

Campbell should be given a month in the side, regardless of performance, much like Murphy got. If he doesn't perform in that month, then it's just one more free spot on the list for next year. But if he does, we could have found our full forward for the rest of the season. It's not going to hurt.

While I think Ballantyne will add a fair bit to our forward line when he debuts this weekend. And with Mayne coming back in 3 - 4 weeks, we could well have the makings of a dangerous forward line.

I think our best foward line would line up like this:
hf: headland Tarrant mayne/peake(rotating)
ff: ballayntyne Pavlich sandi/johnson(rotating)

But with the upcoming game against port and the situation we are in with, injuries and having to have pav be in the midfield fulltime this is what i reckon the foward line should look like this week.

hf:thorton cambell foster
ff:bally(if he's ok) Tarrant(explained below) (pratt???/walters??? bradley??)

I know Tarrant has been great in defence but we need someone who can take a mark, i know he'd probably stop tredrea but whats the point..we would just get the ball kick it to the foward line and there would be know one there. He showed good signs up foward against richmond..so i reckon just clear most of the foward line for tarrant and bally..let tarrant do the contested stuff and bally for the crumbing.

I would love to put peake who has been kicking a few goals in but with the injuries he would have to be the main tagger.

what do you think..

Kiwi must be given a go i normally prefer players to earn there spot through WAFL form.

But since he is one of the few guys on our list with the body to be a KPP he should be given a 4-5 game stint to prove himself like they did with head, an murphy.

Tell him he hasnt earnt his spot but we are giving you the opportunity to play for us and show us what u can offer.
If he fails he more than likely ends up on the chop list at end of season.

...and don't forget that he can crash packs. ;)
