Watched today on tv and couldn't get a clear idea of how we lined up. The commentators said we had only 2 forwards in our forward 50 in the first quarter.

Did they start with limited players up forward or did this only happen after quarter time. If we did start without at least 5 forwards in the 50 why did Pagan do this. Surely we learnt from the Dons game that we need to have targets.

We started with Fev, Waite, Josh & Eddie up forward.

Didnt get a look in for the first 20 minutes......... after that it was all a haze.

Commentators did mention that it was 2 Carlton forwards against 4 Saints defenders.

Seems to me we might be playing just a little too conservative early on.

Can anyone out there tell me who was on Jason Gram and Brendan Goddard today?
They were racking up uncontested possessions accross the backline and through the midfield like their was no tommorow.
The ball was barely on our forward 50 for the game and when it was it came out so darn easily. It really was quite pathetic to watch.
For some reason unknown to me we refuse to make opposition "spare" men accountable, and then we go and play DeLuca loose accross our backline. Cmon Denis give me a break.

This was the thought behind this thread. I would much prefer to see us get thrashed but play positivly. Start and keep our forwards in the forward line asnd more the ball on quickly. It may not be the new style of play in the AFL but I think it is what Carlton need to do.

Agree 100% - lets play positive attacking football from the 1st bounce. Playing a game to minimise damage from the opening bounce is certainly a mindset I hate to see from the Blues.

Couldn't agree more, we had to play man on man footy & not give them easy possession in the back half. It doesn't matter who was on Gram & Goddard as they are instructed to run back to back line.

I was watching foxtel at home, but had to switch over to channel 9 in second quarter as it was embarrassing.
