With it looking likely that the Dawesy as second ruck experiment will continue, do we need an extra mobile tall in the forward half eventually?

It looks like Jolly will need to rest on the bench rather than forward and Cloke, Goldsack and smalls seem a bit short of marking targets then.

With Macaffer gone and Goldy handy but not a real target as such, can we get away with it or do we need one more?

If so, who?

33? 2? 23?

Paine might need a bit more seasoning before a final series, so I'd think Keefe might be the go as he offers more positional options too if there is an injury during a game.

I know it seems a bit far away with all the current injuries, but getting a finals structure right for the second half of the year seems to be important to sort out soon.

You know Goldsack has kicked what is it 8 goals in last three games, he is 190 plus and very mobile and very aggressive at ground level why isn't he an option? If we could get say 4-5 goals between him and Dawes that seems pretty good to me

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I want Goldy to stay there. Just don't see him as a real marking option on exposed form.

Something like: And then:

Didak Cloke Sinclair Didak Cloke Sinclair

Fasolo Dawes Goldsack Fasolo ????? Goldsack

Obviously, other smalls/mids rotate through there and Wellers in particular has been effective there this year and will hopefully remain part of the forward pressure brigade [something that the combination of 6, 21 and 28 has been doing well].

So, can we rotate one more big through there, or should we just live with a smaller forward half while Jolly rests? [Presuming he can't rest forward too well these days]

Rockett Eade on friday night getting interviewed on tv said that the club liked Keeffe's work as a second ruckman and pushing forward....So makes me thinks when we get taz--brown--reid back, Dawes would most likley go back to second forward with jolly--keeffe rucking.... Brown and Reid would be key backman which allows taz to go to smaller player. Also if any three get injured during game we got keeffe as another backman.......think we might be a bit top heavy but we will wait and see i guess........

Yeah, Orion, if that ends up being their preferred choice, it's a lot of talls, although many are mobile and flexible enough to play on different types. For a sunny day at the G in September? Maybe okay. And I like allowing Dawes to focus on being a forward, although we may actually benefit from being able to switch Dawes or Keefe into the ruck at times [getting them into the play / match ups etc]

So something like:

Tarrant Brown Toovey
Maxwell Reid O'Brien
Shaw

Jolly Pendlebury Swan
Thomas Sidebottom Beams
Blair

Fasolo Cloke Wellingham
Goldsack Dawes Sinclair
Keefe

SUB Didak [Yes, I know. That's another discussion though]
