It’s a disgrace to charge a premium for a product and keep increasing the price each year but to actively provide an inferior product.

I must be in a minority here and say I really don't care where they commentate from, the product is still better on Fox with 4K and no ads during play. If you want better commentary, radio tends to have the better teams and can be easily synced to TV these days with Fox.
I actually think pre and post game Channel 7 have some good stuff; however, I'll never chose them over Fox until they broadcast in 4K (which will take another decade given how long its taken for even HD to just be standard). BT is also just an irritating commentator that gets a heap of player names wrong, has clearly never seen the majority of teams play outside of the Big 4 in Vic and tries to make a broadcast about him too often.
Fox also at least make the game the focus of the broadcast and have better analysts.

I don’t care if they call from the moon, as long as the commentary and broadcast is good I’m happy.Difference between Fox and 7 is clear. You pay for Fox so you expect and deserve better. You expect them to go to the trouble of wandering down from South Melbourne to Jolimont for the game.
That's the point people are making.I don’t care if they call from the moon, as long as the commentary and broadcast is good I’m happy.
andrew gaze says you the viewer cant tell the difference if the callers at the game or not.
Hmm. Not on TV but I can tell Watson is at home when he Garry asks him a question...1...2...3...4...which he eventually answers.
Didn't Kelli Underwood (who is an atrocious commentator) call Pat Voss a goal because she couldn't tell on the TV whether it went through our not? It was a horrendous piece of commentary but perhaps she would've got it right if she was at the ground (probably not).
The Pipe is too busy rehearsing his next lame zinger to worry about petty distractions like the score or game in generalDerrrrwayne is big time guilty of this......
GOAL UMPIRE LOOKS AROUND!!!
Meanwhile he (she) is signalling a behind and the fullback is already kicking the ball in.
Did he say why?Gerard Healy just had a fair crack back on SEN, obviously defending Fox calling games remotely. One thing he said was that he finds in 10 times easier to do his special comments job from a studio
I know they're trying to save face with their employer, but they get super touchy on it. I heard Mooney on a podcast a while back near opening round and he deflected and defended everythingGerard Healy just had a fair crack back on SEN, obviously defending Fox calling games remotely. Id have thought special comments would be much easier to make when you can see the entire ground, the conditions, the crowd etc. Might start sending fox an invoice for special comments from my couch

They don't just call of the picture that is being shown to the viewer at any point in time. They have several (though I'm not sure how many) standard views up on screens in front of them that they can refer to.They are obviously presenting their argument for calling from the studio as a united front for their employer. I can understand the argument from a costs perspective but it kinda defeats the purpose of having commentators who are supposed to tell you things as they unfold and things the viewer cannot see at home. Impugns their craft if not calling from the stadium in my view.

Not sure who it was during the Melbourne vs Sydney game (maybe Derm) who mentioned that they saw something on the down the ground shot (which never went to air).
I can absolutely see how having access to all those angles, all the time, would help the special comments guys.
As for it being detrimental to the play by play (e.g. missing goals etc.) BT does that routinely anyway... The Fox broadcast shits all over C7, for me where it's being done from makes no difference whatseover.
BT crying about it makes it even funnier, particularly given the way Fox are rating on Thursday and Friday nights.
Way better is a stretch, Fox have Dwayne the firestarter, Kelli, Howie and Matt Hill who I personally don't mind but many people here seem to dislike because of his horse racing cadence.Agree - Fox coverage is way better than C7. BT has become unlistenable.
