Was reported in the age yesterday, that josh has had minor knee surgery.Reports have suggested that he will be ok for round one.I knew we should have recruited Keating.Hope Bryan stands up if Josh is out for longer than expected.

Bad news. He should be ready to go by round one, hopefully.

I went to watch the boys train last week and Bryan looked like he was carrying a niggle, nothing much but he looked uncomfortable in the drills. I'm not sure about his injury record - If it's anything like Richards we could be in deep trouble. Though there's some positive I guess, the club have indictated Bryan will play in the ruck, now let's see if he has the ability to ruck week in, week out.

It's a career-defining year for Richards. He needs to step up to the plate and show some ability. If he gets injured again that could spell the end. I want to see him play 22 games as well.

Let's hope its not the same knee and that there are no nasty inferctions like the last time around.

Beats me why we don't learn our lessons, knee clean-ups etc. should not be put off, they should be done regardless straight after the season. Not saying this is the case here but, we have a recent history of putting these thinfg off then having them come back to bite us.

That's a real shame, hopefully he can get up for round 1. What do people think of Shannon Cox? Do you think he will get a game this year?

Bit late for surgery isn't it, unless the niggles have continued over the first pre-season stint and decided better late than never I guess.

Once again, ruck problems have us pondering back a couple months to what we should have done. We did deal with the situation. We had Josh play successful football in 2006, despite the workload, so we have as much stocks as before. Bryan is better than Fanning, Richards is injury prone, but doesn't mean he won't be able to play 22 games. Let's just wait and see.

I don’t think anyone suggested Keating for Fraser though so that comparison isn’t really relevant to anything. He is not more injury prone than Richards. He is a lot older though but then again age is irrelevant unless you have ability and can then get on the park. There are queries over both on Richards and the latter on Keating. For mine I would have kept Cameron Cloke but that is playing at the margins in reality. We have gone past where getting a quality senior ruckman with only a few years left on the clock would help us win a flag IMO. The ideal for us right now would be a 23 year old ready to take the step up to number 1 ruckman. I don’t know if there is one of those around to target but I can’t see us doing that anyway.

Keating would have been no use. We should have drafed a Tippett or similar instead of Dawes, and/or kept Cameron Cloke, or even, God forbid, Fanning. Neither option would realistically have given us a lot more depth in season 2007, but something is better than nothing. If we have our three rucks go down (which is a realistic possibility especially given Richard's history) we are left with Travis Cloke and Shane Waklein in the ruck.

Will be interesting to see if Bryan can handle the fulltime seniors ruck.

He's got a lot of talent, but a lazy lazy attitude unfortunately.

Very good up forward though

Who wouldn't have a bad attitude if your playing for Carlton!:p

He will be happy at the Pies, and hopefully be a major asset this season.

Josh Fraser had a cleanout of his knee and should rejoin training in two weeks,Alan Didak has resumed running after knee and hand surgery while James Clement will accelerate his recovery from a broken bone in his foot.
