If they don't play in the same team we've wasted our time and money with Wood. The idea is so that Wood can be the predominant ruckman letting Fraser play in the forward line for the majority of the game. Cloke, Anthony, Didak, Thomas, Dick, Dawes, Lockyer and Fraser rotating through the forward line will make it very hard for most defences to handle.
 
Unless Fraser plays more of a forward role, which in itself might throw out the balance somewhat I don't see MM playing both guys in the same team.

Wood can only play ruck and MM has shown he prefers the versatility of Leroy and Dawesy to pinch hit where necessary - can't see him playing 2 genuine rucks in the same 22.

Leroy will go out for nate brown and dawes for fraser i think

Id say leroy will play this week as his 200th and will be out after it

Whilst I have admitted to the Dawes Man Crush already today Josh playing Ruck /Forward is the missing piece we have been looking for 19 years. But it depends on a lot of things the main one is Wood being able to hold the number one ruck position.

If Wood can play the first ruck and Josh can play Ruck Rover / Key Forward we could be scarry.

I think that is our best set-up.

N.Brown for L.Brown and Josh for Dawes. Josh will take a very good defender if he goes forward even though he is not that strong overhead.

Dawes unlucky but his chance will come in years ahead.

The thing is MM likes to have many runners on the bench so he doesn't want to have to rest a ruckmen there for long.

If Wood can just fill a whole in defence or attack when needing a rest, same with Josh, I'd give him a very good chance of staying in the team.

Dawes will make way.

What I cant see, however, is Wood Fraser AND Rocca. If big Ant hits his straps and demands selection, we will be forced to make a tough decision. Do we continue our two ruck policy and do we select Rocca as our FF? Or to we play two rucks as well as three key fowards? Or do we drop Jack?
 
Both can play in the same side but this time around i would have Wood as first Ruck. Let Fraser get back into it by either coming off the bench or playing in the frowardline. This means Dawes will be dropped which is a shame but in the end if we can have a Ruckman in the ruck all the time not just a fill in then it can only make us stronger. Have Fraser do the ruck work in the forwardline will make the opposing Ruckman come down and leave Wood a kick behind play on his own.

Wood in the ruck me thinks. Dawes OUT: Fraser IN. L Brown OUT: N Brown IN (possible)

With our crumbers and Josh as a forward ruck we'd be unbelievable. Plus, not many key backs could go with him if he decides to run them around in the mf. Fraser plays about a quarter in the centre I think while Wood rests. Positionally sway Dick and Fraser if the opposition lacks tall backs.
 
if i was dawes i would be looking for another club if he gets droped this week thats bullshit what dose he have to do to keep his spot its unfair . **** of rocca your finshed mate dawes has your spot now piss of.

Life is not fair and I doubt Dawes is that big a sook.
He played well enough but not well enough to stake a claim for the possie long term.
It will come though, I'm a big fan.

Anthony is on track to kick 50 goals this year. It would be ludicrous to drop him. Unfortunatley for Dawes he'll be the one to go out.

Make no mistake, Dawes Reid Cloke Rusling Anthony and N Brown have huge futures at Collingwood and our key positions for the next ten years will be filled with players from this group.

But for 2009 we need to select the best players for the here and now. If that means Rocca or Fraser pushes Dawes out, then so be it.
 
Anthony makes stupid mistakes if he marks it inside 50 he should go back and take his kick not pass it of. and he gives way to many free kicks away for pushing in the back. and he dose not chase he is lazy.
 
i like how wood runs back into the back line and helps em out his a good mark. fraser should play full foward while woods rucking. we so dont need rocca now micks inlove with him and leigh brown i dont no why there both hacks.

I loved Wood's performance last weekend as much as anyone, but one swallow does not make a summer. MM made it pretty clear that Woody had a great game but would still have ups and downs for a while to come yet. I think he is a couple of years off being a consistently good player for us. I hope his form keeps up but but I'm not factoring him in to any calculations just yet.

Both can fit nicely into the side....in fact both on the gruond at the 1 time.

Fraser pushing forward, Wood floating back filling holes.


Come finals, we don't want to rely solely on Josh Fraser. He has not managed a finals campaign for ages now due to injury. If he falls down in a big game and we have no backup then we are screwed.

Now days anyone with a 2009 join date, no avatar and who's first and last posts amount to brainless "poppycock" are immediately put into this basket as far as I'm concerned.

Especially when it is evident their user name has no relevance to anything other than just being the next on the list.
