The accessibility of MRI means bone scan can easily be skipped, but people will not infrequently refer to a non-fracture stress response on MRI as a "hot spot" to match the colloquial terminology. I personally have not ordered a bone scan to look for a stress fracture for many years, even in the public system. Straight to MRI.
I generally only order bone scans when looking for mets, simply as the private MRI place closest to me charges way to much for them!
Lets hope the MRI showed a low grade stress response and time/decreased loading with heal it fast!

I'd assume that he must have been complaining of pain. By mentioning hot spot, it implies he likely had a bone scan. Hot spots often indicate stress fracture. I would assume they will MRI it and decide on conservative management or surgery if the MRI confirms a fracture already.
Ct scans are the best for picking up little bone things that don't show up on x rays..

It very much depends on other factors such as the location of suspect occult or subtle #, availability of imaging modality and cost to the patient. Certainly for stress fractures, MRI shows changes earlier than CT does.
I do know in many cases when I refer to ortho after a doing a CT, they then order an MRI :)

Hopefully we get Switta and Tabs back next week

The Noddy one is frustrating and if I was a betting man, Walters won’t get up for next week, a decent chance on getting Rona from his family

Carrying a few sore boys, need to get to that mid season break with no major injuries

Of the... four orthopaedic surgeons I've seen so far in my life every single one of them has sent me for an MRI first such that it might be better if GP referred to the specialist via the MRI.

Hopefully NOD keeps his foot warm, keeps the blood moving
The difficulty with GP's ordering MRI's is the medicare arrangements.....somethings we can and its covered, other things nope. Specialists get more scope with MRI's.

Absolutely, the system has loops to jump through that cost extra time for the patient to save money for the government on the chance GPs get referral happy.

I mean the commentary was so bad I didn't even know any of them were injured anyway (except for briefly seeing a shot of Pearce on the bench with an icepack).

When Walker just suddenly appeared on the field I thought I was going crazy because the commentators never once mentioned an injury to our players.

Great Journalism indeed. Deserves a Quill award that does.
Justin was keen to get going. After the last question he answered he stood up and said something like “thanks fellas”. He was clearly devastated. I did like his response to the wet weather question “it’s a winter sport so we have to get better”.

I was literally (and pointlessly) yelling at the screen”Shut up telling us about some f%%%%%ing stat and tell us who is off and why”. They had Lynch on the boundary giving the viewer nothing but inane comments but zip about the things we needEd to know. 🤬

I forgot about the injuries until I saw the paper and saw the Cox, Pearce and Acres injuries listed in the rankings.

They would've got back late yesterday so we are really only going to know by tomorrow.

They are really scraping the barrel up there in Qld when Lynch is the best they can get as a boundary rider

Thought the exact same. "Oh look, there's Walker". Knowing instantly someone had been subbed off, they didn't even announce it. We had the shittest of days on Sat, from the conditions to the callers to the game, it was just total garbology
