Ok so I know this might be a bit much but IMO our effort on Saturday night was deplorable, and should not be tolerated. Our response against Adelaide next week needs to be swift, punishing and outright ruthless.

I'm a long time reader of this forum, and only a new poster, but someone needs to address the Fremantle dockers and demand more. If thats an onfield player or supporters, fine, a coach, even better, and I hope Harvs gave the boys an absolute rocket. We are a top-4 side with good depth and good talent playing like a group of unskilled finals aspirants.

I thought we played pretty well on Saturday night. If not for our inaccuracy in front of goal, we would have won comfortably. Each player that missed a "gettable" shot at goal should be dragged over hot coals. You are professionals being paid to do this job.

They should demand more of each other and raise their intensity about 3 notches. Hayden Ballantyne is pretty close to a model pressure citizen. Run the tape of him diving for smothers and running for a tackle at everything that doesn't match his colour jumper.

Let's be the club we all know you can be...."PROUD LOYAL PASSIONATE"

I agree about the professionals bit. If I constantly underperformed I'd be sacked...

I was watching Balla's last night and was thinking to myself if every player applied the same sort of pressure that Ballantyne does week in, week out, then the opposition would think twice about going for the ball when a freo player was in the vicinity. There was a number of times I saw a Geelong player kick the ball away purely because Ballas was baring down on them. Kicks under pressure often lead to mistakes, after all

Yeah i thought that too last night at the game. If we had a few blokes with that kind of mind set it would go a long way.

Don't know what you people are on about, the effort put in was excellent, we were dominating Geelong in the second half and the pressure was kicked up several notchs from last week. But it's kind of hard to lift yourself up and the team after miss after miss after miss after miss and Geelong made us pay. And only just.

The effort was not excellent. It was patchy.

It was fairly clear Geelong were kicking wide to the defensive 50's from the kick in's, then bringing the ball back through the corridor with the next kick.

Why we left men unchecked in that central corridor has me beat.

I lost count of the times Geelong went coast to coast without us getting within 5 metres of the ball carrier.

That's just not good enough, collectively we should be better than that, in another thread one poster harked back to last year when we were ravenous. I dont see that same intensity this year.

Individually there are some players who really need to question themselves.

Do us all a favour and bugger off

I was down as anything after the game but have re-watched a lot of it and we were far from ordinary

Our response for next week would be to play the same as we did against Geelong and focus on slightly more elevated forward pressure and adapt that sort of intensity for the middle of the park as our defensive pressure was strong again

And of course some intense goal kicking practice - hell, even remove both sets of point posts at freo oval - either get a goal or nothing in training

Out of all the teams in the comp, only Collingwood would have really punished us how we played yesterday and it would not have been by much more than what we did lose by

We were 2 points being goals away from a win

You pump the ball 50+ times a game in to your forward 50 you're gonna get a nice amount of attempts on goal (which we had) it was our inaccuracy that cost us

Teams always seem to struggle with accuracy in front of goal at some point in the season. While I don't think it should be accepted, I don't think it will happen two weeks in a row (windy conditions aside). Effort seemed fine to me.

I think it will be most interesting to see Fremantle's Response to Walters goal line act. Unforgivable and should be dropped.

Righteo then, all aboard the whacky train

Sorry to confuse peppy, I though we got an E for effort, even though we played pretty well. Every time an opponent kicks a ball, there should be a Freo player diving for it. Every time an opponent has the ball, we should be harrasing them, not just a wimpy tackle.

Effort was poor and apart from a select few errors in judgement, our skills were pretty good.

It was error in judgement. He showed plenty of endeavour and he is a developing young player. In the bigger picture, no big deal. Team game, team didn't win.

The haters need to relax.

If Fremantle get 10 games like that I would back them to win 7-8.

Paul Chapman admitted as much in the post-game interview.
"They let us off the hook" (referring to goal kicking opportunities).

I give a 'B' for effort and demand 10 extra hours of goal kicking from the forwards this week.

You also underrate Geelong's performance. They lost some talent but still have the heart of a champion. I felt the difference was Chapman and Bartell simply willed their teams over the hump whereas Hill tried but hit the post (symbolic of how close he is to being a genuine superstar), and Pav simply missed one he should've made.

Walter's incident is minimal - blaming him or singling him out would be stupid and have a negative influence on the team

Many members of the team had chances to get goals in the last and didn't - Pav was unlucky with what happened with Sonny but others should have been better

We need to be ruthless in front of goal as we don't seem to have a problem getting the ball in to our forward 50

At the moment we're:

7th for inside 50s
3rd for first possesions
4th for clearances
11th for disposals (6th for contested possessions)

We're not getting much of the ball, but we're getting it first and we're getting cleared

In terms of our opponents, they are:

12th for inside 50s
5th for 1st possession
5th for clearances
11th for disposals (10th for contested possessions)

Not a huge lot of difference there

Shit goal umpiring aside- was clearly over the line and memories of Pavs GOTY effort being disllowed last year come flooding back.

I still want Walters in the team, definitely someone who should be persisted with (if he continues working hard).
