Anyone hear the dribble on channel 9 last night. All the commentators were at their worst last night. Eddie, predictably, was bias towards Collingwood (if he just didn't do Collingwood games he is bearable), Dennis Commetti was an absolute disgrace who should make a public apology for his antics last night, and I have lost respect for him as a result of his effort on Friday night, Gary Lyon was as woeful as ever (but I'm used to his antil-Adelaide ranting), and Dermie was just plain bad. Then Dr. Peter Larkins little comment demanding one of the Crows players (I think it was Roo he was referring to) was pathetic, seeing as he's supposed to be commenting on players injuries, not his opinion of the game.

I know I'm just stating the obvious here, but ah well...

At the end of the day we sucked.

Let's not fall into the same trap we all did in the mid-90s when Sam Newman used to go to town on us... you could argue Eddie was biased but the rest of the commentary team had every right to bag us - we were abominable and I'm sure every one of us fans used stronger language both at home and the ground after the promise of that first quarter and a bit gave way to mediocrity.

The fact that Dermie was laying into Andrew McLeod and the Adelaide Football Club is a warning sign more than anything - if he's speaking ill of us then god help us, as he's one of our biggest fans.

Eddie was unbearable. The first half was vomit-inducing...I believe he mentioned the free kick count every 10 seconds. The way he goes about it so subtely makes it even worse. Here's one example:

The ball was in Collingwood's 50 and Bassett was on Tarrant, I think. Bassett was barely touching Tarrant, but worked him under the ball. The ball went over their heads, and Ben Hart ran it out of defence. But Eddie came up with something like 'and there's Bassett holding Tarrant, enabling Ben Hart to get the ball unopposed and carry it out of defence for the Crows.'

Arghhhh. Shut up already you moron! He just made my night worse...terrible 3 quarters, terrible commentating....

At times I had to flick it over to Coyote Ugly on Ch7....Adam Garcia was much better viewing ;)

What about Eddie complaigning that our first goal should've been a free kick to Collingwood for holding the ball. Clarke didn't even take it out of the ruck and got away a hand pass. Idiot.

Why would any of you actually listen to him commentate when it is live on the radio? At least if you listen to 5AA or MMM you get a Crows flavour in the commentary.

Won't listen to 5AA if McDermott is commentating, he has a huge chip on his shoulder.

I thought that it was a lil strange that last week Eddie didnt commentate on our game against Essendon, but lines up first to commentate on a game of the club he is president of:rolleyes:

Don't get MMM in the country and 5AA is as scratchy as hell, would listen to either of them if we had a decent reception 'in the bush'...ABC is ok but commentators are boring, they probably had Stephen Williams..*dances*

I don't listen to 5AA but on Fox Footy he has this really deadpan and annoying repetitive tone everytime he makes comments.

McDermott is nowhere near as bad as the pathetic, useless, insipid and abysmal commentators that WA have been producing of late:

Jason Bennett
Tim Gossage
Peter Wilson

For a team going live to a nationwide TV audience, I haven't heard more biased and substandard callers in my life.

I thought the commentating was fine. No different to any other Friday night. Personally, I really didn't notice any bias at all.

Aside from Eddie, the others generally called us as we were, absolute ****e.

Re: The Foxtel WA commentators, spot on, those blokes are shocking.

I think it was Bennett calling the West Coast Adelaide game last year at Subi, a Wet Toast player kicked it badly into their forward line towards two Weagle players and this tool yells out Ma Teeera, Judd!! followed by silence as a Crows player cut the ball off and we ran it out of defence, down the other end and eventually through for a goal.

Bennett is now called Matera Judd in our household. :D

Ahhh, memories of the days when there was a team called the Adelaide Crows and they could play half decent football. :(
