No. I never get invited to Capitol. Or the Mustang for that matter.
It finally all comes out.

Next time we have a WA chapter catch-up I'll flick you an invite

Rookies! Swanning in, carrying on like twats, like they've been around for 49 seasons.
When I was a rookie you had to pay your dues and show respect.
Post a shit thread. You get a kick in the arse.
Front up to a veteran. Kick in the arse.
Kick a goal. Kick in the arse.
Spam up a thread. Kick in the arse.
Get kicked in the arse. Kick in the arse.

Then they brought in something called the EKA and rookies go hypo.

You all need a kick in the arse.
Did me no harm. SteveBuscemiLipstick.gif

Has CazC30 found this award winning thread yet, I wonder?

Hello all,

With Cloud_ 's imminent return to being a mere mortal amongst us, he has loosened his grip on my desk and has given me 30 minutes to pen my thoughts.

I thought I would use my time to address the rookies (and some veterans) in the league with two things that I think are very important when approaching this league and your persona:

1. People talk.
2. Who you want to be on this board?

Despite my previous successes in goading people by telling them how to post (No u), I am a firm believer that this place is what you make it. And that, with that, you can have an ever-evolving group of personas that are able to all mingle with each other. You don't have to be what other posters are, you can be whoever you want to be. If you want to be a statistician, be a statistician. If you want to be a troll, be a troll. If you want to rip off other media pieces constantly, well that is okay too. If you want to mirror it closely on yourself in RL, all the power to you.

And once you've found your place in what is an incredibly fast-paced board, own it. People aren't always going to view you the way that you want. People are going to misunderstand your intent and your circumstances. People are going to go hard, and they're well within their rights if it doesn't cross a line. Sometimes personas just don't like other personas, and you just have to suck it up.

But you have to be very careful with how you approach others.

It has reached my attention through my multiple sources that some people, including rookies, have become quite aggressive and volatile in terms of how they present themselves publicly and privately. They have, allegedly, presented themselves in a very different manner regarding how they present themselves in team and match threads, and how they deal with people behind closed doors.

I am a big fan of resolving issues behind closed doors rather than playing it out publicly if required. There is also a wonderful BigFooty feature called a report button. As much as we all love a good public spat or meltdown, there are often times when posters can feel genuinely aggrieved about how their persona, or their actual character, has been judged and attacked. But here is the thing:

Just because it is in private doesn't mean that you can take it to that personal level, even with threats, hints, and innuendo. Especially if the other person has stuck to their persona. Just because you disagree with the way that they present themselves in this league, and they way that they approach discussion, doesn't mean that you need to throw nasty accusations and take things too far. Unfortunately, as many have found out, PMs aren't always the place of privacy that you think they are. There are several groups, across several teams, involved in ongoing mass PMs and even social media. It's bound to end up public knowledge somehow.

If you want to be a certain someone in this league, it has to be consistent. You can't go to a private place, completely change the way that you approach people to your public image, and expect that to fly. You can't treat posters, and even whole teams, one way in public and then in a whole other privately.

Unless you're like me, and you are actually a lovely person privately.

Word gets out, you know.

Noobz.
