I received the pre season edition of WEG in the mail today and found this interesting:

Draftees by Gus Smarrini

But Thurley must have made more than a passing impression as, apart from Geelong, Brisbane, Richmond, Kangaroos, and especially Port Adelaide, all made keen overtures in the draft lead up.

From that, not much chance Thurley would have lasted to the pre season draft as some suggested at the time. Port used pick 39 on Forster-Knight ffs, so I doubt he would have even made our next pick (Spencer).

Time will tell I suppose.

The bottom line on Thurley is that the club didn't consider him in the best 36 players last weekend.

Not a knock on Thurley, but when you use an early pick on a mature age recruit, it's fair to assume they'd be near you best 22 immediately.

Hope like hell he succeeds, but it doesn't auger well.

You may be setting your expectations a little too high then rizzo.
Y? he was drafted as a mature age player, played VFL, and is buitl to play already

Not that part. The part where you expect him to play 20 games. If the coaching panel get their way, he could very well barely make it to 10.
