It feels like they've replaced the backstorys with jump scares, a bit of blood and guts and (as you correctly pointed out) hysterical arguments. Lost didn't really have the first two iirc. I'm sure there were plenty of hysterical arguments but it wasn't 60% of the show..

Posting, "I watched a few eps and didn't like it, so I'm not going to watch it," is NOT a critique. It's virtue signaling. "Look at me, I'm not watching this TV show cos I'm so cool!"

I welcome people giving a thoughtful critique, even if it's negative. But what he posted was not that.

I wasn't specifically taking about that poster, which I have no issue with , it was more a general comment about any criticism in this thread which gets jumped on.

I got called a Karen a couple pages ago because I said that whilst I liked the show it reminded me of McDonald's

So ive binged the series and am half way through the last season. I thoroughly love the show. But there are some real inconsistencies though.

Some thoughts, I dont think they stayed on top of the time line very well. Some events only happened days ago according to the reactions but some side plots seem to drift over several months but started around the same time as those events. I could be wrong but the pregnancy is supposed to be months old already. Yet the time line for the entire series only appears to be several months.

The reaction when tabitha came back was completely out of perspective. What all of a sudden people demand she could have got help. Because thats what has been common with the town, people coming to help.

People only arrive to suit the plot. Doesnt seem to be any randoms unless they are mixed with plot points, ie like the bus and the ambulance.

The want to punish those who do wrong seems to come and go. The police officer is torn to shreds for trying to prevent herself from being killed yet one guy stabs another and nothing and the psycho bus guy kidnaps someone and again, nothing.

Also cant tell me that with the strength of the alcohol, no one thought to make Molotov cocktails as weapons? like really? one guy is a psycho who likes using weapons, another from the army. Like wtf? its the first thing I would have done in that circumstance.

Another weird concept is the lack of beards and clean shaven individuals. Cant be an unlimited supply of razors running about.

lol yeh all valid points in your spoiler and I binged at the same time

What I also noticed from S2 to S3 was how anyone with dark hair suddenly had a dark rinse added to jet black

The Diner and the endless food in S1 and S2..but that was an issue worked on this season

Ethan is the biggest issue going forward. By the time it comes back in 2026 he will have aged real life 6 years

So 7 to 13?
8 to 14?

See my point? It’s one of the reasons why the boy in LOST had to be written out

Plenty more but what I love is that it is a mystery. There ain’t much story telling like this around or so for the past 20 yeears. It’s why it’s become the sleeper smash

When you have finished go on to YouTube and waste another few hours looking at all the clips out there offer their theories. Some are just ridiculous but I think the best channel I’ve seen is Nautilus and Think Story (?)

yeah dont get me wrong, its a good series. these were just obvious errors. yeah Ethan will have to be recast if they use the same time frame. But I dont think they thought it would go past a couple of seasons so this is a major problem. My gut feel is s4 is going to be a time jump into the a few years into the future. New people, new problems

Could go backwards as well. We’ve seen Pioneers, Civil War

When Tabitha goes up the lighthouse on the step above her head is a series of dates. What are these dates? Eras? Attempts to save the children in the Lighthouse?

Yeah just watched it yesterday.

My take is it was such a good first season and somewhat second season that they really didnt know where to take it in the third season. Its a bit of a rudderless mess in my opinion. The revelation that those kids were sacrificed so people could live forever seemed to come as a convenient plot point to write off the birth and bring back one of the antagonists, kind of like stealing the rebirth idea of from the Terrifier series.

The killing of the guy who went through the far away tree and ended up in the pool was just stupid. We saw countless times main characters going in and out of the far away trees and coming out unscathed all over the place but a minor character doing it and dying seemed way too convenient.

Overall it just doesnt feel like there is a destination or a plan to the series. Just a series of sub plots drifting to the next with convenient plot points. Maybe it was a symptom of the writers and actors strikes inn 2023. Hopefully the season finally indicates a big plan for season 4 that ties it all together in one neat bow but im not sure it will.

You raise some valid concerns; I’m more on the benefit of the doubt that after watching many YouTube and reading Reddit From forums that there are reasons that at this time of the day I won’t go into. Have a look for them; but pool guy was a message to the town that if you think you can use the Far Away trees to get out, well here is a very public demonstration of what will happen. They are still an unfolding mystery. The children have been seen since Jade saw them so they’ve been around a while.

I assure you I have seen a clip where the writers know where they are going and that MGM have realised that this is their only cash cow so that story will come to fruition; my worry more so is that the pressure will be on to extend the original story from MGM into extra seasons and it becomes an inevitable mess.

I enjoyed S3 more than S2 over my 10 week binge fwiw.

It’s a unique show atm because it has created a heap of chat around the world and that’s rare

She didn’t save the kids so Man in Yellow wasn’t too phased; he should be more concerned that she came back.

His character will be one to really be interesting to explore. He is in the paintings that Victors Mum had painted in the basement. I’m going to go back to that episode and have a closer look at those paintings because there are clues there.

But if MiY has this ability to turn up in the daylight what does it mean going forward?

It’s different but hey that’s some pressure they are under
