There is one glaringly obvious flaw in Collingwoods game and it's how we got exposed big time last week and again today. Forget sometimes ordinary kicking and lack of key targets. The major problem is we get sucked into the marking contest and no one ever stays down. Further to that we never kill the ball when we do manage to spoil. If you wind back the tape particularly to last week with a few of Gias and Stevens goals and today Bruest and Cyril. Why do we always fly? There is no one ever down at Clokes feet up forward and we have struggled to generate in play goals. If we don't find a marking target inside 50 we get rebounded and scored against heavily. Broomhead is no where near it at the moment. Fasolo needs to be a permanent forward desperately need Karnesiz in the side otherwise we lack flare and goal sense inside 50.

I don't see it as a flaw. Instead, I see it as part of the process of developing a new game style under Buckely. It will take time to do this considering the youth in our side.

We do lack natural forwards.

i think Fasolo is one of those that needs to be played up forward , can turn a game.

I am really keen to see Karnesis come in when fit

Yep I wouldn't call it a flaw either, it's just bad decision making. That will develop in time and we'll be better off for it.

Makes me tear my hair out but not concerned about it at all

I've noticed this for a long time too.Not having any natural crumbers on the forward line is also a major concern for us.

We leave the ball in the oppositions hands too much without trying to get it back. I reckon we would be #1 for uncontested marks against. Too much zone footy. Until we go back to a more man on man defence we will give teams a more than even chance of rolling us. We were playing man on man before the bye & haven't since. Buggered if i know why.

Because we have got no crumbing small forwards

theres a lot of polishing we're gonna need to do before we're making our premiership push. stuff like this will iron out. thats definitely not our biggest flaw, i think carrying sht players like lumumba is a big problem. we need our young fellas to come through before we're ready for the big time, everything else will sort itself out so long as bucks knows what hes doing (and he does)

Forward wasn't the problem today.
How about that Luke Breust guy running around.
Cyril poppy hill.

We can't contain fast small forward. We can't win matches without speed in defence on the small guys.
Williams was crap.

I think we need a crumber, but 1/2 of that is just getting a small to go 3 metres in front of the pack.
Nail. Hammer.
Hawks are masters at this. They ALWAYS have someone front and square to crumb.

The biggest flaw I see (and a big pet peeve of mine) is how our key fwds push too far up the ground. If you notice on many occasions, whenever we get the ball and create some run through half back, players then have to stop, prop, kick or hand ball sideways to bide some time because there is NOONE fwd to kick to. Meanwhile, opposition defenders flood back...finally a long kick fwd to a contested situation, ball rebounds straight back out again. Rinse lather repeat. Does my fn head in.

Yep once they push up the ground, they should be leading like he'll to space but they don't. Them pushing so far up is meant to create a heap of space behind them. It's meant to catch the defence on the hop but in order to do that the communication between the forwards has to be better. At least one has to stay home.
The other thing is, the opposition may be dragging the forwards up the ground to exploit a lack of pace and congest play in the middle. If our skills were better and we were quicker, they wouldn't be risking this.

Williams was on Cyril right?
If so saying he had a crap game is a gross injustice.
If not I stand corrected

It seams to me that we go to ground too often. The minute you loose your feet you are out of the contest. This occurs in many marking contests but also when we are tackled with the ball.

We need to get our own fast small forward that oppositions can't contain.

Mind you, not many teams, if ANY can contain all of them. Hill and rioli were fairly ineffective compared to most other weeks. Toovey has struggle the last 2 weeks but don't forget breust is now the best small/med forward in the game.
