it was a good movie for its time........ you'll see this movie one day and you'll hear the line and lol and think "that nicky sure knows what she's talking about."
I'm sure I've seen it but don't remember it and since I don't watch movies twice then you'd better cough up. Which movie?

Aren't sitcoms shows that have the fake laughter or in front of a studio audience? Therefore shows like scrubs can't be classified in there.

I'm not big on sitcoms at all but if i had to choose, then perhaps the drew carey show would be my choice. That show did seriously go down hill though.
Not really, sitcoms are most often shot like that but don't need to be.
As I understand it, sitcom refers to a similar setting and/or charcters from episode to episode; ie. the "situation" is similar throughout.
Using that I regard The Office as both a "Situation comedy" (the same people, sets, etc) and a mockumentary, similarly Frontline.
People Like Us
was perhaps both; or perhaps only a mockumentary as the cast (other than Roy Mallard) and setting changed each episode. Whatever genre you call it, it was definitely funny and that's the most important thing.

Sit-com is really fairly broad, covering most things that aren't sketch comedy (Little Britain and the like), stand-up or talk/panel shows. Rove Live and Spicks and Specks have a live audience and a lame "applause" sign but aren't sit-coms. Rove isn't comedy of any sort, but that's beside the point.

Can understand the number of votes for Seinfeld, but my vote goes to Frasier, based on 2 factors:
1) I think the writing is, and always has been, sensational,
2) The Kelsey Grammer/David Hyde Pearce combo was a masterstroke, absolutely priceless

FRONTLINE should have been included, it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.
Of the ones listed, FRASIER gets my vote. As stated previously, the Kelsey Grammer/David Hyde Pearce combo was brilliant, one the best comedy pairings in a long time, and the support cast was fantastic as well.

FRIENDS and SEINFELD are two of the worst comedy shows I've ever seen, thankfully I've only seen a handful of episodes of both.

I think I might get myself nomiated for most hated poster.

Seinfeld was never funny.

no i totally agree and you will see throughout the thread there are more of us

This field is crap, if you want intelligent humour Arrested Development is miles ahead of anything else.

Seinfeld isn't ageing well either imo.

How anybody could not find Seinfeld funny, particularly the first six seasons, is beyond me.

Seinfeld was consistently funny but for memorable moments Frasier gets the vote. It didnt have as much laughter but when I laughed I laughed hard. Great acting crew too :thumbsu:

Well if its popular then it MUST be good! Wow i might go and buy Seinfeld on DVD now...thanks!

Yeah good one,"I'm so anti-establishment and cool".
It is popular because it is FUNNY. The show revolutionised the way sitcoms are made today. If you don't like it fine (although there is obviously something wrong with you) but don't imply that people only like it because it's mainstream. Frasier was a good show, just not as good.

I agree it was a fantastic show, but it hasn't aged well. I find it hard to still laugh at anything not related to Costanza.

I'm just pointing out the entire field of sitcoms that have been selected are run-of-the-mill, formulaic, crap.

There's many other sitcoms far more deserving of being included in this poll. It shows me the thread starter lacks good taste.
