Gday,

just a few players under the age of 25 i thought i'd bring up who had really good seasons who if continue to perform may fill the voids of opening batter jason arnberger and an ageing victorian bowling line up

Peter Nevill - melbourne, 666 runs @ 44.40 - wicket keeper batsmen
Simon Hill - Camberwell, 626 runs @ 39.13 - left hand top order bat
Grant Baldwin - Melbourne, 623 runs @ 36.35 - right hand top order
aaron finch - geelong, 614 runs @ 32 - right hand top order
tom stray - ringwood, 646 runs @ 35.89 - right hand top order

and for the bowlers

cameron hucket - right arm outswing bowler - 46 wickets @ 18, and with the bat. 320 runs @ 29.

andrew fekete - right arm pace bowler - 42 wickets @ 20, and with the bat. 28 runs @ 3.5
michael beer - left arm orthodox - 43 wickets @ 20. and with the bat. 76 runs @ 25

theres a few other players such as clinton mckay, jon holland, and kumar sarna, who come into same category. the next crop of players is definatley there, and odds are one or two may play for australia.

Sorry Subs , but if these blokes are only averaging 30 odd in club cricket I can't see them setting the world on fire in State Cricket .

And the odds are none of them will play for Australia .

These guys are no older than 22, and opening the batting for there clubs they can only get better. It's a tough job.

You will find that with a few more years of good grade cricket results, and once they get into the first class system there game will go to the next level.

aiden blizzard was averaging low 30's when he joined the squad. Since taking the next step to first class cricket, club cricket is like hitting up in the backyard.

Lyode mash was averaging not much more. and got his chance after a double hundred on tattersals emerging players tour.

Very few players come into first class cricket averaging over 50 with the bat.

David Hussey, nick jewell, and jon moss probly are the last players to break in and they were later 20'.

Bringing in our own Victorian youngsters these will be the guys.

playing for Australia probly far fetched, but i definatley think they are not far from playing for victoria. most have played victorian 2ndXI cricket already.

the future is blizzard and quiney.

but they have already palyed a game so i guess thats why u havent included them.

i no this kid might be a bit to young to tell but alex keath is the biggest freak out. He is on a full scholarship at melb grammar for his cricket and was in bushies 13's and played in canberra this yr for under 15's bushies. Remember his name guys, has a very very bright future.

Andrew Brindley.
Vic u/15s, u/17s, u/19s, u21/s or something like that.

Took a break from Northcote to play with his dad in good ol' country cricket for our club Malmsbury. Spanked 100 off 40 and 200 off 200. Best bat I have seen in my life. But then again, thats nor hard as I play B Grade in a Country league.

there have been plenty of junior bullies. most of them dont kick on.

to play first class cricket its takes a bit more than hitting sixes and smashing 4's.

the bowlers are at you all the time, and generally want to hit you in the head. the players i have mentioned are all techincally capable of making it to the next level.

Given the limited exposure I've had to the above-mentioned players, my opinion is virtually worthless.

However, having seen Jon Holland play, I'd have to say he's the best orthodox left-armer I've ever seen play in Victoria. Such guts. Persists with floating it up when they try to hammer him. Such guile. So many subtly different balls, which is the deception required from a finger spinner. Always bowls just short of the length you think he has. Turns it a bit, with sufficient bounce, and has exceptional control. I look forward to following the rest of his career.
