Just heard ratten talking about a possible move of a fwd line player to our struggling backline any thoughts about who he is thinking of? Maybe fisher, cloke?

Fish played down back for the Ants this week and did well by reports, Takes a good grab but can we afford a slow player down there who can't kick 40 metres? Cloke just No.

Maybe Yazza off Half back?

Big step up from the VFL to the AFL. Given Fisher's physical limitations - speed, agility, strength through the core, I can't see him negating anyone.

He might be able the loose man role well enough in terms of cutting off opposition thrusts but his kicking and decision making is horrid. Would be a last resort, I would have thought.

Team will be :

Setanta down back ( unfortunatly ), Kreuzer played as permanent fowards, and Jacobs brought into the team to share the ruck with Hampson.

Mark my words!!

Having said that im happy for there tall forwards to get the ball rather than there small ones. Im happy for the cats to try to exploit us with there talls cause none of them can kick!!! Leave Setanta down forward.

Tried too.

Sadly I havent got hands like Fisher..

From last week

Geelong
B:
Darren Milburn, Tom Harley, Corey Enright
HB: Mathew Stokes, Kane Tenace, Andrew Mackie
C: Joel Corey, Cameron Ling, Jimmy Bartel
HF: Travis Varcoe, Cameron Mooney, Steve Johnson
F: Paul Chapman, Tom Hawkins, Max Rooke
Foll: Shane Mumford, Joel Selwood, Gary Ablett
I/C: Shannon Byrnes, Simon Hogan , David Wojcinski , Tom Gillies

We won't need more talls than Thornton, Bower, Austin - we got caught out for 10mins last week and Setanta covered well but we seriously need him playing forward and playing well.

Fev's been to fullback and had five or six kicked on him. Wasn't that a great lesson?
He has gone pretty well since then.

I'd say lesson well learnt. ;)

The Cats have only got Hawkins and Mooney as talls down back. Rooke doesn't really play tall.

We'll see who they might bring in for Chapman, but I don't think we need to go much taller. Jamison probably would have got Steve Johnson this week......I'd look seriously at Bannister for him. Rest AJ rather than see him get carved up by Ablett. He's tired and needs to be freshened up.

I would love to see Sentanta on Mooney

Hey how cool was the Big Hairy Cat on OWAAT last night? Geez he is honest and relaxed about life. Then he said he just loves watching Fev play and I was sold completely. Go you BHC (but not this week of course). :thumbsu:

Fev's been to fullback and had five or six kicked on him. Wasn't that a great experiment?

haha that was great when my former fave player big frase kicked 5 on him in the first quarter lol ended up with 10 for the match, champion big frase was, actually i think it was only 9

I think they're going to go with Setanta at full-back on Mooney. Thornton and Austin alternating between CHB and CHF and Kreuzer playing permanent Forward Pocket with Jacobs or Cloke coming in to take over back-up ruck duties.

Basically I think we're going to try and exploit the lack of height in their back-half and also keep constant rotation through the half-forward line so we don't get the stagnation we had there against Collingwood and to a lesser extent, last week.

Are geelong so tall that we need to cover their forwards with Setanta?

I can see Austin getting Hawkins first up.

Bower on Mooney.

That leaves Thornton to play on ? Varcoe.......and zone off, see if Varcoe has learnt his "Hodge lesson".

I'd play Walker on Stevie J. Initially I thought tagger, and Banno might get a call up. Not sure Russ has the mobility, but then again neither did SJ last week.

Walks could be a good match up for him.

Is Ratts playing ducks and drakes?

Unless he is thinking of Thornton going forwards and swapping with Setanta, but honestly, Setanta was ripping it up at CHF until his injury, and his contested marking could prove difficult for the Cats without Taylor in the side. He needs to stay there and get his form up rather than being slung around again.

Yeah that was cool. Speaks his mind and mentioned Fev on numerous occasions as a favourite of his to watch.

bower on stevie j,austin on hawkins, thornton on mooney.shouldnt sacrifice our forward set up for geelongs crappy key forwards.ohailpin might go to the backline if thorntons shoulder is still abit sore, therefore thornton up forward and ohailpin back

LOL If anything we need to try and develop an tall key backman IE Austin, to come up and play in the foward line and help Fev, and the problem Cloke and Fisher are on their last legs at AFL level, and playing them down back is going to be a liability.

Happy for Carlos to stay at CHF and create space/more marking oppotunities for Fev.

With geelogn missing some key talls down back we would be stupid to sacrifice our talls and put them down back.

Bower, thorntan and austin should be able to cover their tall forwards. in saying that, i am never concerned about their talls, Geelongs game winners are their smalls and the way they deliver it into that forward line.

If anything, Ratts should be exploited their defence with Fev, Setanta and another tall. whether that is resting Kruezer there or even bringing in another tall. I know most hate Cloke, but i reckon he would cause them troubles with his size. Might be a good time to bring in Garlett and have him and betts crumming off the talls.
