Have posted this in another thread but think this deserves its own thread
Nat trained this morning although for a short time and very lightly
With him back at training maybe the operation not on the cards

I thought he was flying to Melb for a second opinion?

So he's just travelling with the team?
All signs pointing him to being ok.

Im thinking that this may be a positive of the sub rule. If he pops his shoulder again in the game then theres no loss....without the sub then they might not want to risk him.

Thanks Salim

I'm still gonna hold out for the Vic specialists opinion. The damage may already be done and unless he is in pain training probably wouldn't make things any worse. I'd love him to play but it's almost like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. As hard as his absence would be I don't want his future mucked around with.

I get the distinct feeling he'll play halfa game only to be subbed out and then operated on next week. My mind's telling me there's no way in hell he's gonna play out this season like last. Harves kept playing him because he was running out of personnel and hod nobody else to go into the middle for him, but Lyon's already indicated he won't be risked.

Damn, just found out there won't be a session in Melbourne.
The guys will have a full session tomorrow in Freo, fly in at night, rest/meetings on Thursday and nothing else up until gameday. Could be the same for all travel they do over here now, one of the things Ross mentioned was the travel method changing.

Well if it helps us fly in and get the 4 points, I'm not that fussed...

fly in and get the 4 points
That should be the most important change in our travel strategy...

@topic: Not sure about the Fyfe thing. But I really have no ideas about shoulder injuries. Was really surprised he played on for that long last year. Hope he is fine...

If he needs an operation why would he play this weekend

just to bust it up a bit more so the surgeon earns his cheque.

we can't afford in the short or long run to **** around with his management and i'm too paranoid by nature to have complete faith in him and the club that he's right to go. if he plays, hopefully he plays a blinder but i'm a tad apprehensive.

What's the point of playing one game then operating the week after? All or none I would have thought. If he needs surgery, get him in now so we can get him back ASAP

An op is now inevitable. It's how his shoulder holds up to being battered every week. Lyon said if it pops out again he'll tap Fyfe on the shoulder and get him operated on.

Is it? I'm not a medical expert on shoulders, but from what we know, he had a full reconstruction on that shoulder at the end of last year and Ross has publicly said that he had a minor sublux of his shoulder. Does that require surgery or will it be stable with appropriate strapping and some specific muscle strengthening?

It will depend on the scan/damage and the opinion from the Vic specialist. Best case scenario is that he won't need another reconstruction but that would depend on whether he gets through the rest of the season unscathed.

Operation or not.. think it would be wise to rest him for this week and possibly the week after. Friday night games, particularly with Saints fired up against Lyon aren't a place to gamble on such risks. Also, come to think of it Ibbo, Pav and McPhee have end of season ops every year ? I know pav is notorious for having bad shoulders... Fyfe probably will have to play through this for rest of his career through proper management and strengthening (he still isn't that 'big' compared to elite mids)
Judd has had problems with his all through his career as well.
EDIT: Further reading... Mundy look set for a full game. Maybe fyfe sub ?

Lyon, interviewed by Fox Sports at the airport today, said of Fyfe, that he trained today and was best on track. Read into this what you will.

Is that a flesh-colored, short-leg, short-sleeve uni-****? Or did the physio get carried away with the shoulder strapping?

If it pops out again, tapping him on the shoulder is the last thing he needs...
