D-mac:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: Was the most influential on the ground for us

Thought he had a presence in most contests and shouldve ran in to kick a goal in the 3rd quarter instead of centering it to Tex. Glad we came out winning :D ugly win though

Very very lucky.

Any other team with a bit more mature of a forward line would've ran us over halfway through the game.

Credit to the boys on the fightback though. Before the tackling and running wasn't in it and they stepped up at pretty much the final moment they could hit the switch.

they gotta work out what happened in the third quarter... besides the crappy umpiring... actually it was crap all game... seems the holding the ball rule just changed again.

It is what it is. There are always immature areas in any team.

I had hoped all our dudes performing in the SANFL would inspire the lower end of the 22 (Otten, Petrenko, Callinan) to play better. A bit disappointing.

Shaw, Jaensch, Martin, Lyons must be close to displacing them.

Bloody hell. Throw that 3rd quarter up against a top 4 side and we're toast.

Work rate dropped off for 30 minutes after half time.

Love how Porps shone at the end.

Reckon we got dragged down a level too.

I'll take the win:thumbsu:

p.s.
Umpires were shit. As were the totally biased Victorian commentators:thumbsdown:

didnt think they were that bad... i think there were 2 injuries tonight (i think hendo will be out) ... who will come in?

Completely naive to think the mature bodies at the Bulldogs weren't going to come at us at some stage.

Good win. We would have found a way to lose that in the past.

Just catching the wrap up. Stoked to get the win, I was actually a bit nervous tonight.

Even more stoked that we were challenged and fought back to win. That has been a rare occurence in the last few years.

Otten and Richie out.

In? Martin and another small, maybe Jaensch. We seemed a bit slow at times.

It has long been my theory that the Umpires have been instructed not to listen to the crowd at Football Park and so they often don't pay the frees that they otherwise may have called.

Think Dougy and Hendo need to be rested regardless and Otten needs to be dropped.

Porps should be our sub as he only seems to be performing in the last qtr anyway.

Agreed. Griffen, Dalhaus and Murphy made us look pedestrian at times

But we also play a very attacking style of game, so we were out of puff in the 3rd and that made us slower again. Thank **** we got a 2nd wind for the 4th

Not sure why people are bagging Petrenko's game; he had a good first half, kicked two goals and set up one or two right? Even if it was only a good quarter, actually, did Dangerfield really do much better? Let's be fair if we're gonna be picky.

Definitely. In fact, I don't think we would have 'found a way'. I can't remember any game in the last two years where we came back after the other team fought back into it.

We haven't won ugly for a long time and I, for one, am glad to see it.

Whoever it was that said this is a more defining game than the Hawthorn one was dead right. We could get absolutely flogged by the Hawks next week and it won't mean as much to our season as this one. Of course, if we win....

It was scrappy, it was ugly, but we did it. I had flashbacks to the numerous times we had coughed up a comfortable lead in the Craig era. Thank god we stuck through it. Should have packaged the game up much earlier, it was astounding how many gettable misses there were.

It's not a theory mate. I've been inside the umpires rooms before games and heard them very clearly tell each to 'not listen to the crowd' and 'shut out what the crowd wants'. It's a fact.

Which results in them going against the crowd's response ... even when the crowd has it 100% right.
