Game of Thrones - spoilers inside

My favourite season - I don't have time for rambling.

Bravo slow Martin.

The series was at its best when it was aping Martin but had the dramatic sensibilities to trim things down. The moment they had no blueprint and went off the reservation in took a sharp turn to shitty town. It just happens to better than everything else on tv but that's probably more an indictment on tv rather GoT.

I was really frustrated by the long-winded walks and journeys that the previous seasons contained. Every minutia of their interactions with strangers and randoms was explored with the detail of a novel.

I'm comparing it to previous seasons, not other TV, and it's a clear winner for me. TV is different for everyone and I don't care whether it follows the books or not - just whether in the hour I put aside to watch it that I'm entertained. A simple man?

I would disagree but I've often found what I consider compelling or even simple character development to now be considered boring. Out of curiosity what are your favourite moments from the series?

Compared to previous seasons it's objectively worse, regardless of how closely it follows the books. Often the best moments of the series were inspired by the books but took certain decisions that dramatically improved the story. There's certainly moments to enjoy now but it's far from what it was, not that it's bad. Just worse. Whether you're a simple man or not for liking it more now I couldn't care less.

I'm not sure what else to say other than what I've mentioned - I like how it's quicker and doesn't get buried in too much detail that I can't remember everyone's names and allegiances.

It's a work of art and works of art are interpreted differently by different people - I'm not in your boat on this occasion.

No matter what the show or movie, it will always be different from print to on a screen. They are complete different mediums. I have only read the first 2 books of GoT i think, and the early seasons followed pretty closely. I enjoyed reading the books and watching the show, but enjoyed them in their own right. You can tell just by the writing that the show is no longer following a book, but that is ok, the show is it's own beast. If you were to make the show like the books, you would have a 20 season boring show. Make the books like the show you would have a terrible book.

I'm enjoying the show for what it is. Thought this was a good season. I do miss some of the more detailed conversations and the like from the early seasons, because i enjoyed the characters and the writing was really really on point. At the same time, it is at the business end of things now, so i would expect less talk more action.

I don't think the writing is worse, it's just the way a third act is largely supposed to tie up loose ends from the earlier acts without introducing too much more information. The third act being drawn out over 23 episodes while still having to have 3 acts an episode for TV and essentially play out another 3 acts over the course of a season male's it pretty difficult to keep the narrative rhythm that people are used to from their TV watching.

Also, still loling over the Chekhov's Dong for Theon. Will Podrick's magical utensil be the same, just while actually attached?

Only the best shows transition from an explanation as to the relationship between two characters and then full blown incest.

I have read speculation that there will be multiple episodes next season that are longer than yesterday's season finale.

What were you doing on Pornhub Caiphus?

I hadn't seen any GoT episodes up until about 8 weeks ago and then I watched all the episodes in about a month. Now impatiently waiting for season 8 whenever that will be.
