I've got $67 store credit at GAME because they wouldn't give me cash for a trade in.

Is there some kind of a cheap way to get the $67 back as cash (example pre order something and cancel).

I don't want any upcoming games from these guys because they don't price match due to it being "lower than cost price".

probably not as cash

apart from buying a game and fleecing it on ebay

best you could probably do is buy a game and trade it with EB towards a preorder

or buy 3 cheap games not on the JB exclusion list and trade it for a new game with them

why did you trade at game in the first place?

wow

6 wows

40?!

must be expecting lots of trade ins
$40 is about stock standard for new games at Eb these days, then they throw a $90 pre-owned sticker on it lol

And im stil unsure why you traded with them if you were never going to buy from them???

Didn't know they don't give cash.

Didn't want a trip to the shops to go to waste so I traded it.

Quite sure some/all EB's do it but give you 20% less.

This. Because the 200% profit they'll make off the pre owned sale just isnt enough, they want that little bit more.

Never ever trade in at EB, shit trade in values, shit cash policy. Price match or the off chance a sale item is below rrp everywhere else is the only way to shop at EB

Please tell me where these EB stores that make 200% profit on their 2nd hand games are. I would love to take that store over and make that sort of margin!

My store certainly doesn't make 200% on selling my 2nd hand games, so i'm not sure where you got your figure from. probably just made it up in your head to make it sound outrageous

Maybe not 200% profit but certainly a 200% mark up on what you pay in cash for a traded in newly released game.
Not bad in my book.

I remember EB selling Red Dead for 110 new and 103 pre-owned within the first month. You could get it at JB for 80. What a joke.

Keep the store credit and use it when they have stuff on sale. GAME has some pretty good sales once or twice a year

The reason we take 20% off for cash is because it creates more paperwork from a legal side of things. Its just easier to get store credit from our point of view (plus credit is future sales too)

A great day in WA when we no longer traded for cash. We use to have to manually write out every game that was traded per day, and get the 100 points of ID. Console trades need a whole bunch of different paperwork and we had to file these after faxing them to the police every night. And then we had to store the games for 2 weeks for legal purposes before being allowed to sell them

A big trade would give us an extra hr or 2 of work per day. We had to pay staff for that. Plus taking 20% stopped the druggies trading sometimes too :( I used to have 1 couple who would try to trade the same games (sealed) each week, don't know where they pinched em from, but we put a stop to that real quick :)

So there was a shit load more to do for cash stuff. it isn't worth the hassle and i'm soooooooooooooooo glad we don't do it anymore

And just because we trade a game for $40, doesn't mean we trade every copy for that amount. The average price paid for a game can be a lot higher than its flat value fro various reasons
