Gameday thread, Round 5

This thread is HILARIOUS! Reading all the positive comments in the first half followed by the usual CRAP (Sack the coach or so and so is a spud). The boys put in one half of very good, competitve footy tonight (which is one quarter better than the previous four games) and showed glimpses of where we'll be once everything comes together. Unfortunately it appears it will all be too late for this year, but that is the nature of footy. Got to take the good with the bad... and we've had plenty of good over the years. I guess it's our turn for the bad. I love my team and will support them throughout this year of highs and lows - there will be some highs I am sure of it.

PS. Henderson did some nice things and Davis had a good second game. Good to see!

maybe you could stop being so self righteous, we all love our team, but not so much the method we play by, its a cutthroat competition and two good quarters is not-acceptable jenny

We all love the team.

That doesnt mean we have to fellate them in the wake of our 5th unacceptable loss this season. Out of 5 games.

Anyone know what our worst start to a season has been?

I thought our work rate was alot better tonight. Good sign.

Ditto that. I thought there were patches when we were totally in control, then a few bad decisions and lack of skill from the younger players created the turnovers that killed us. But they will learn in time. I'm not sure Patrenks has the goods to make it at this level, even though he's making the crows side for the moment.

But Phil Davis, welcome to regular AFL games.

I don't set the bar too low at all! I had us in the top 5 before the season started. Anyone can see that everything that could possibly go wrong this season, has. I don't "blame" anyone. I can see strengths (though, I must admit, a lot less than previous years) and I can see weaknesses - in both players and coaching squad alike. I can see a bunch of young men busting their balls out on the field for our jumper and for us the fans. I can see all the little things just going against us (like the quirky bounces for example) that just add salt to the wound. I will always expect the best from my team... I even picked them to win tonight, even though better judgment told me otherwise. I just know I MUST support them - now more than ever!

Of course it's not acceptable.... but hell - grab on to the positives! We were better tonight. We've been getting marginally better every game. We actually had MORE tackles than them tonight!

I know we all love our team. For ME, though, this is how I'm going to get through these tough times. No point kicking and screaming like a nancy... what does it achieve?

Thoughts:

Good:

- Tippett should have gained some confidence.
- Davis was pretty good for his second game.
- Some patchy good play where all that handball worked.


Bad:

- Letting them run free in their back half? What the hell is going on here? So so frustrating. Teams are getting 10 dead easy goals from us a game
- Skill errors again even by skillful players
- Porps and Knights dont seem to be gaining any match fitness.
- Missed Mackay's run big time
