Is very good

didn't seem to miss on any passes he made, even the best midfielders either drop short or overkick on occassion.

has a massive tank, he seemed to fill in every gap when there was space and geelong players found him, as big a tank as harvey and crawford who would have to be amongst the biggest runners in AFL

isn't a soft ____ receiver, he went and got the hardball when he needed to.

is instinctive, he doesn't stop, prop while making up his mind.

imo his speed of play gives the illusion he is tremendously fast, he just does the right the right first time.

he runs the wings like nicky winmar, cuts through the guts like burke and seems to have decision making liking harvey or greg williams.

on the evidence of the last 2 games, he is in very very rare form.

if he manages to keep up this level of consistency, iMO he will get the charlie this year.

bartel is brilliantly talented, but IMO his skills are comparable with a few other players in that elite midfield skills level, but junior over the last 2 weeks has him covered easily.

TBH i know its only 2 weeks form I've seen, but those 2 games were as good as anything Judd's delivered in his prime.

He was pretty ordinary last week against your lot (and the week before against Melbourne).

He still got a lot of footy in both games, but they were probably his two worst games since the start of 2007.

There was actually a bit of worry about him on the Geelong board going into yesterday, but he responded like the champion he is.

EDIT: Here's a thread that comments on how poor he was in both Round 3 and 4.

doesnt have the X Factor of Chris Judd. and without Jimmy Bartel in the side ablett wouldnt be as dominant. Bartel is an unsung hero

As a previous post said... Bartel won a Brownlow... I'm pretty sure the fat lady sung his song

And to say Ablett doesn't have an X-Factor is ridiculous... he wins us (Geelong supporter :-D) off his own back... he's right up there with the best atm... & in line for another great season

Unlucky to miss out on Charlie last year but might just take it in this one

West is BETTER!!!!

Very good you say, I might have to keep my eye open for him tonight, as I'am going to the game. What number does he wear? and is he any relation to the Gary Ablett that played 20 odd years ago?

Westy reliable and can't fault him but not as damaging surely

definitely admitthat atm but surely youd rather young gazza compared to westy right now if there was no history

Of course any team would have a young player gun midfielder over an older one but if u asked me if i would pick out of a gazza over West (with his histroy) atm i would pick West :)

have to agree to disagree
ablett speed, power, goal kicking, skills (foot and hand) beats west (consistancy, hands, determination) definitely ability to take it up a notch when he has to. Westy gallant though

Ok then

Welll Gazza is only looking good in a good side, if he was at stk he wouldnt be as damaging and wouldnt have everyone loving him. On the other hand west have been very consistant at the good and bad times at the bulldogs. :)

good point but hasn't had much chance of proving himself in bad side. but still gets the best tagger most times and most damaging part of his game is going and getting the footy himself. or getting away from stoppages.

True and yes he has been in a Geelong team, which has been under pressure to win games. West has been getting the best tagger for much longer then Gazza has and still get 30+ possies, which is still underated by other clubs.

I don't think he is underated though. just think he has always lacked that game breaking ability. he'll win you a game by playing 4 really good quarters but he can't win a game in a quarter. therefore he's not quite as dangerous. gee that adelaide supporter is a loser isn't he

Would he have had the same attention if he didn't have the name "Ablett"

True true if only he has that Matching win ability he would have won at least 2 Brownlows.

haha yeah the crows supports cant hack anything. :)

I think he is so awesome that he is underrated. His only weakness is his overhead marking, but that's not his role. His clearances, speed, unselfishness and good use of the ball makes hi one of the best I have seen, and I have seen plenty. Couple more years then legend status. I would pick him ahead of West who is not a game-breaker ie Ablett kicks 3 - 4 from the mid-field in a quarter. West is a great though.:thumbsu:
