Is it really worth Jumping on him now? I think everybody is hoping he will get another onster score like that, but he may never be in the same match situation again etc.
Surely once the 254 is out of his rolling average his price will come down to 600kish. Can anyone see him maintaining his 670k+ pricetag?
My thoughts are it would be better to wait until Round 12+ when his price is back down to 600k to pick him up.

At 677K he is mighty expensive, but consider that Geelong are absolute ball-hogs as far as activities go. Regularly the club gets more than 400 possessions, over 100 marks and all sorts of Supercoach-scoring goodies like goals and hard-ball gets. Gary also loves it in the West, he has played very well in the past, indeed in 2006 he kicked 6 goals in one of his best ever games, which from memory scored up around the 160-170 mark. Is there anything Freo have as a tagger that can stop not only he, but Bartel, Corey, Selwood etc? Gary will score well barring injury.

if he averages 100+ for the next 2 or 3 games, his price will be over 700k for a short period of time. alot of money!! he hast gone under the 110 mark this season so very worth it =]

I meant 100-110 for people that had him as captain.

61 x 2 = 122.

I was close.

Nah I knew this would happen. Everyone got a chubby after his 252. He won't score 61 every week, but neither will he score 252 every week. He's a 110-120 ppg player.

I'll be picking up him, Juddy or Bartel in a few weeks... depending on their form and respective prices.

675k for one player is madness.

I may have picked him up this week but didn't make him capt. I gave that job to Bradshaw.
And luckily for me my opponent had Ablett as capt. So in some ways I don't mind him getting such a crap score

I thought my captain selection over for hours and analysed the averages before coming to the conclusion that ablett was the most consistent decent scorer and chose him. Then he goes and has a shocker (by his standards). It sucks. Everyone else on my team has fired so far. It really is a bitch trying to get everything to fall in to place for one week i tell ya.

I don't believe people simply jumped on him thinking he would score the same as last week, more that they needed a good mid field upgrade and Ablett fits that down to a tee.

I'm certainly not swapping the captaincy around though, not yet.

You would assume that most people have atleast a couple of midfielders that needed to be upgraded. Kornes, Dalsanto and even Judd would have been much better options than paying 675k for GAblett.

Also I've seen people upgrading players like Stevens and Salopek to GAblett. You must have an awesome team this early if players like Stevens and Salopek are the ones who need to be upgraded first.

A good midfield upgrade I hear you say? Upgrade?????

Gees theres alot cheaper upgrades going around that are just as effective. K.Kornes and Dal Santo come to mind.

Count me in sparts as one of the ones that upgraded one of my midfielders to judd this week.

I ask you this question though. Who would you upgrade for k.kornes next week if you were me? My three easiest to upgrade go in this order -

Ling
Stevens
Houli


To upgrade Houli to K.Kornes I may have to downgrade Josh Hill to a rookie and use the funds to upgrade Houli.

The others are obviously not as expensive to upgrade, however I am worried about Lings output lately. Is it due to the injury he got last week?

Nah I haven't made any upgrades in my midfield yet. I had Gablett and Judd from the start.
