Stating that Geelong are all but gone and the era is over is not only foolish by also blatant jealousy for your own personal ego's.
Tim hate's Geelong always has and Gary Lyon just can't wait till our rain ends and his team rises. Fact is we have one of the best young talented teams in the game and if you take out Scarlett, Milburn, Ottens, Wojcinski and Mooney then the average age of this team drops back down to 25. Sure they have been great players but we have ready made replacements for all of them and this Geelong team is not going anywhere.
What exactly did Geelong do wrong this year except except for not turning up and playing good footy in the preliminary final?
These loses are tough I know but they build character and hatred in players when this time comes again next year.
Simpson is going to be an excellent ruckman and he will start playing seniors regularly next season.
Mitch Brown for Mooney
Taylor Hunt for Wojcinski
Duncan for Milburn.

Also Pods has to go I'm sorry but at age 29 he is only stopping Hawkins from dominating the forward line.
Josh Hunt is certainly one player that needs to be put on the trade list as he has cost us too many times in big games.

Like i said in another post, we have to drop a further 5 games in the home & away season to lose a top 4 spot. I cant see that happening we will challenge next season for sure.

hawkins has been playing for 4 years now and all he's dominated are mcdonalds meal deals and you want to dump a 50 goal forward in the prime of his career for him?

Out of Pods and Moons this season, I'd be getting rid of Moons. Pods was easily our best tall forward this season, so deserves his spot in the side. Moons was down on his normal output this season. Don't know if that was because of Pods or not though.

I just want us to scrap the "Hawkins is a ruckman" experiment and play him at centre half forward next year.

Agree that the Larry's have no idea about our list and are wrting us off at their own peril.

A few things...

• We can't afford to lose Ottens, but need more output from him next year in which will most likely be his last season.
• Hawkins and Pods need to be the forwards with Mooney playing less game time and maybe pinch hitting in the ruck.
• There's no place for Blake. Need to go with Ottens, Simpson, West, Mooney, Vardy n that pecking order.
• Ling to go forward and kick 40 goals for us.
• Rooke to bring some mongrel back into the side.
• Wojo was excellent this year and is going nowhere.
• I'd like to see Enright and Varcoe tak Gary's spot in themidfield. Enright is good at half back but has potential to take the next step and with Laidler and Hunt to become permanent fixtures down there we have sufficent backs.
• Need to kick the ball more. In fact get Sam Newman down to the club, he nailed it on the head on TFS, hopefully he lets the boys know when he marches down there tonight in his Pies jumper..

In the end, we finished second on the ladder (2pts behind the Pies). We nearly snatched the game from the Saints after not turning up until half time, and lost all momentum early against the Pies int he pre-lim after some dodgy umpiring decisions and lucky goals etc...

Nothing really went right for us in the finals series this year, and you could argue the hunger probably just wasnt there, but theres more thasn enough talent to go around again, and hopefully some of that desire gets back in the belly of a few of our champs...

Geelong will at worst finish top 4 next year and will have jus as much chance as the other top 4 teams to go all the way, hoping we can get through injury free...

it's a shame that everyone seems to cast aside what this team has achieved and almost take pleasure in writing us off

although unlike others in this thread, i think if we lose ablett we are no longer a top 4 team
