He is on Open Mike tomorrow night. In a snippet, he states that he didn't fall out with Mick as Mike Sheehan thought, while deeming Mick's angst & animosity became irrelevant, after the decision to extend his contract paid immediate dividends with the 2010 flag.

Just recorded it can't wait hope he shows Mick to be the prick he is

Every Collingwood supporter knows Mick coached better after he got told he had two years left

How do you figure? We are the best performed club off field, we give our football department all the tools to get it done.

None of what is happening currently is Pert's fault?
true true true
if our players could perform as well as him back to back premierships would be a certainty

I don't want to hear crap like " We have a 2 year plan for a Premiership." Quote unquote!!!
If we are so good off field how about they get decision right that can improve us on the field.
Better coaches.
Better fitness staff.
Make better decisions about going overseas.
Invest in things that will actually improve the team.
Merchandise department is a mess. Prestigiacomo actually do anything there? The website has been selling the same crap for years.
Dance troupe rubbish needs to be looked at. More cash wasted!.
VFL coverage amateur. Time to start filming games.

Better of everything! What a ground-breaking idea.

Your list proves you have no idea.
I would be embarrassed to have posted this response as justification for sacking Pert.

Yes - lets dump Pert for someone that can improve our merchandising offer.

All you offer is criticism with no solutions - change for change sake it for idiots.

Get a grip sport.

Pendlebury
Eddie.

Then it makes you wonder.
Now that's a surprise. Maybe I was being a little harsh on your negativity- you actually want to keep two people.

Those two must be tired getting us into the finals with a young side last year and a chance to do so again this year as well as being the most successful club off filed in the competition. Imagine what could be achieved if we had someone to help those two.

Just watched Gary Pert being interview on the Open Mike series on Fox Footy.

If you haven't watched it but have the ability to do so, do yourself a favour and have a look.

Pert talks about the relationships with Eddie, Malthouse, Buckley and in particular the contract struck up for Bucks to replace Malthouse in 2012. He talks about the Rat Pack for a little bit also.

The part that was really compelling for me was when Pert talked about the two year extension and three year director of coaching deal struck with Malthouse.

Pert stated that there is no doubt we won the premiership in 2010 because there was a sharp focus by Malthouse due to the fact he only had two more years. He went out and got Jolly and Ball to try and win a premiership. It was the single focus for the club, no talk of rebuilding or building, they just wanted a premiership in Mick's final two years.

Hopefully someone will be able to put up a link to the 30 minute program because it is compelling viewing in my opinion.

FWD: How good is this bloke! Watching the interview almost feels like a win, nice that it came the Monday after the Gold Coast Game.

Gary started with his story about his tenure with Fitzroy (the club he supported as a boy), he injured his knee in his last game for Fitzroy. Fitzroy then told him he would be offered less money for his next contract, before Collingwood (the club he originally despised), encouraged him to come to our club after Alan McAllister's endorsement. He then elaborated about playing on the game's best forwards (Dunstall, Ablett & Lockett), before retiring permanently as a player in 1995 under premature circumstances due to his knee.

He then worked at Austereo & Channel 9, before becoming our club's CEO in 2007. Perty told the tale about Eddie, his lifestyle, persona & avid love for the club. Mick as our coach was under siege leading up to the signing of that 5-year deal with Bucks 5 years ago in 2009. In short, Gary said that Mick wanted to go after that premiership in the next 2 years & achieved it with cunning recruiting of Ball & Jolly, instead of going to the well & continually rebuilding from each draft. Gary went on to say that he never heard from Mick about how he wanted to continue as coach, nor managing the terms & conditions of the deal. Pert concluded by saying that he was disappointed in how Mick's ending finished & how it occurred, in spite of what Eddie did for all of the years Mick served as coach.
