the CIA are a law unto themselves, have been for years, murdered thousands of innocent people, Webb is another, this was no suicide , if you believe that you must have voted for the rodent and supported bush
Sigh.
How did we go from discussing the tragic demise of a very talented journalist, to totally irrelevant accusations relating to my political preferences?
Nevertheless, let me reassure you that your rather illogical accusations are incorrect. I most certainly did not vote for John Howard and do not support the current US administration. What relevance this has to the discussion at hand, I do not know.
Now, to the subject of Gary Webb...
There are a number of valid reasons why I view the conspiracy theories relating to Gary Webb with much cynicism:
a) As I mentioned in my earlier post, Gary had been unable to find work at a major newspaper for a rather long time.
b) Gary had been the victim of a concerted smear campaign, launched by the mainstream press, resulting in his reputation being all but ruined.
c) Multiple gun shot wound suicides whilst unusual, are not unheard of.
d) Lack of a plausible reason why the CIA would want Webb dead. He was no longer a threat to them; 8 years had passed since his expose.
e) His wife noted that Webb had been extremely depressed recently.
f) The conspiracy theories relating to Webbs death have been promoted by websites that make the Murdoch Press seem like a bastion of truth and journalistic integrity.
You see, the CIA didn’t need to kill Gary Webb, the mainstream media had already performed that task with aplomb.
