I had pretty boring day off work today and decided to take a glance at talking carlton, in which i saw a thread discussing pre match and post match gatherings. I thought it was a terrific idea and thought it might be worth a mention here (as i dont know how many people use that forum). Would be terrific if we could get a bunch of supporters down before or maybe after the match to discuss footy rather than people going home and going straight to the computer.

Thoughts on this??

Not keen on travelling to Thomas-t-town after a match, personally.

Pretty emotionally exhausted after a match as well, and if we lose probably aren't the best of company (unless under the calming influences of alcohol).

I for one cannot believe you guys don't get together already
FFS wablues jump at every chance at every game to get together
Like minded people sharing a common love and a comaradarie that is pure
You all go to the games why not get excited together before and celebrate or lean on each other after?
They say it is tribal. They say Melb is the heart and soul.
To me Melb does everything half assed.
And Qld NSW and SA should also get their asses into gear
Last year the organization in the other states other than WA and Tas was a disgrace
Are you content in being a fan or are you proud to be a supporter?

Guns my argument to that and why I wouldn't put my name down for weekly meetings is that I already meet up for drinks with people before games, the same people I've sat with for years. It's got nothing to do with not wanting to meet anyone from here, and I have met a few anyway.

why not tie the 2 together?

There are plenty of people here on BF in the social club
Why would you not eant to say g'day to say bluegal, HBF or Cranium?

I've met Bluegal and HBF and I'm happy to do so again. Cranium might be a little more difficult...

It's no offense to anyone here that I enjoy and drink with the people I sit with but I'm happy to say a cheerio to some folks from BF.

There was a catchup prior to the round 22 game this year, which was great to put some faces to the user names around here on BF. I suspect why it is not done more regularly is two-fold.

One - People often have other things they want to do prior to the footy.

Secondly - Posters enjoy the annonimity that BF provides.

There has been some smaller groups of people that have caught up, and continue to do so.

If there is enough support, perhaps we could meet up for a NAB Cup game, should we beat Sydney in week one.

Oh I agree however even if it is a transient 20 or 30 people getting together it would be more fun than just turning up 5 mins before the bounce. It is better in Melb but in Perth at Subi you pay top price for mid strength beer and crap food so good quality food, drink and company before and after make the experience that much better.

When the games are at Etihad Stadium, the meeting places are much closer to the ground. Plenty of cafe's and pubs around Southern Cross Station, which is what we did prior to round 22. MCG is a little harder, as there aren't alot of places closer to the 'G, unless you go to Bridge Road, or something like that. The advantage the WABlues have, is that it is already an organised group, whereas all us Melbournians are just a big group of individuals.

Speaking of Melbourne Guns, will you be heading East in 2010?

Hope too. have bambino III in Feb so all bets are off. Maybe heading to Gold Coast................ for a marthon midyear.
Have a busy year of business, babies and competitions so I would like to eg for the jumper presentation

When I was living in WA I went to The Vic in hay st a couple of times before matches. Just a 5 minute stroll to the ground...

Vic is OK but busy. It the Subi and Irish club all do well.
Best bet is to come to our functions for Blues games however this year coming up we will try to do things different. 1st game sit down dinner perhaps and rnd 22 cocktail night maybe.

When was the last time there were 2 Carlton H&A games in Perth Guns? I just can't recall it off the top of my head.

Usually when I meet people from the internet it turns out not to be them, but the Feds...

THAT
is classic comedy right there. I laughed like a drain in an empty room! :D:):D:thumbsu:

Are you a fat bloke behind a keyboard with a takeout meal on your lap?
