Saturday night, 7:40pm at Telstra Dome.

Anyone else going to the game and if so, what are your thoughts as to our chances against the Carring Bush??

Second Semi Final - Geelong v Collingwood at Telstra Dome, 6.10pm / Channel 10

you might be disappointed if you turn up at 7.40

Wouldnt be disappointed if the Cats were flogging them. lol I would love to go to the game, but would be a long trek for me.

2002 VFL Premiers
2003 Wizard Cup Premiers
2004 AFL Premiers

What do you guys think?

They say things happen in three's, could happen!!!!

The only worry for you guys is how you come up after the heat last week.

Collingwood have had one less day to prepare which will balance that side of things out. It will be interesting to see who we play on Nathan Buckley considering Cameron Ling is out injured.

Rahilly or D.Johnson would play on Naf.Let's just hope he keeps his blood to himself. ;)

Squads for the game-- and Ricco's back for the Cats...

GEELONG

Steven King, Tom Harley, James Bartel, David Spriggs, Ben Graham, James Kelly, Joel Corey, Will Slade, Peter Riccardi, Charlie Gardiner, Kent Kingsley, Steven Johnson, Cameron Mooney, Aaron Lord, Brent Grgic, Matthew McCarthy, Brenton Sanderson, David Johnson, Gary Ablett, Matthew Scarlett, Jarad Rooke, James Rahilly, Paul Chapman, Peter Street, Darren Milburn, David Wojcinski, Josh Hunt, Corey Enright

Haven't seen Collingwood's squad announced yet, but I can't imagine there being very many surprises there... I can't see Mick Malthouse resting very many players for the semifinal of any competition, even if they claim not to take the preseason very seriously.

While I don't buy that Collingwood claim whatsoever, Geelong still has the Magpies' number over the years, and should win this game in fairly close shape.

Interesting read on the afl.com.au site, says in its final analysis that Geelong should pull through, based on an "edge in enthusiasm and desire". That might not be far off the mark...

This game means more to the Cats, and it'll show........

PICK: Cats by 13.

This will be a great test for the guys, if last week wasn't big enough. We win this, and well we have really come forward in leaps and bounds, but if not then we're still above where a lot of people expected.

Really looking forward to Saturday night. Got a pretty good feeling about this game! :)

Go Cats!! :)

Geelong vs the Carring Bush are always good quality games and this one will be no different, even though it is only a Wizard Cup match.

Good to see Riccardi and Bartel in the squad.

Collingwood squad: Rupert Betheras, Scott Burns, Nathan Buckley, James Clement, Jason Cloke, Richard Cole, Leon Davis, Alan Didak, Josh Fraser, Brodie Holland, Ben Johnson, Paul Licuria, Tarkyn Lockyer, Matthew Lokan, Ryan Lonie, Mark McGough, Steve McKee, Jarrod Molloy, Shane O'Bree, Simon Prestigiacomo, Anthony Rocca, Heath Scotland, Rhyce Shaw, Chris Tarrant, Shane Wakelin, Tristian Walker, Andrew Williams, Shane Woewodin.

So with the above team....

into the squad of 28 is Paul Licuria, Shane Wakelin, Rupert Betheras, Ben Johnson, Brodie Holland and Tristan Walker.

While out goes Ben Kinnear and Dane Swan.

Just adding more and more strength to the side.

Thanks for that, Hoggy.

It's definitely going to be a hearty challenge this week, even with what I said yesterday. Geelong have Collingwood's number over the past several years, but Saturday evening's game is not going to be an easy one.

The impression I got from watching Collingwood beating Hawthorn last weekend is that they go from one strength to the next very easily-- and having Woewodin in the middle merely complicates any defensive gameplan designed to break them down.

And furthermore, any team that can afford to bring Anthony Rocca off the interchange bench, that is one very loaded team.

Should be a great game tomorrow night...

So does this mean the Carring Bush are now taking the Wizard Cup seriously??

Hard not to reach that conclusion, although we haven't in the past. You'll know if we're deadset from the first bounce-if Rocca is on the field, we mean business.

I've always enjoyed games vs Geelong-lots of thrills and spills. Its a bit frustrating not having beaten you for a while, but this is really a no-win situation for us. If we win, it was just a wizzer match. If we lose, the run continues.

Every time a team runs out onto a ground you attempt to win the game, therefore yes we take it seriously and always do.

We usually bloody youngsters and we have this year with Lokan and Swan playing but that doesn't mean we don't take it seriously.

I for one would love to see us win the Escort Cup again, even though it is a little thing, it's still a premiership (of sorts).

I agree with you, I just asked because I have heard supporters try to use the excuse that they're not taking the competition seriously when their team has lost. I know some teams are more advanced in their preparation then others, but once you get to the semi final stage in a knockout competition like this one, it would be good to go on and win it.

Good luck on Saturday night.... lets hope it's a good quality game between two good young sides.

It's so they have an excuse if they lose, if you search my posts on BF or my beloved AFLHQ, I never said we weren't going to try or anything like that. I want to win, I will be disappointed if we lose on saturday night but nothing more than that, I'll get over it very quickly because when you do think about it, it isn't a game for 4 points, but it does still mean something.

I'd also prefer to play 4 games at the T-Dome to playing in the bush.
