Gehrig was an absolute gun in 2001, but my mate reckons that he did nothing last year (I was in Indonesia, so dunno myself). Is that true, or did he do alright? My mate's not a Saint fan, and non-Saints often spout a lot of **** about our team!

He was fantastic in round one and then missed the next 10 games (except for a brief apparance in round 7 where he was injured in the first quarter) with the dreaded OP.

When he came back he took a while to find his feet as you would expect after a long lay off but he had some encouraging individual performances before the season finished.

Against Freo at Optus Oval we were down at half time and looked terrible before Thommo switched Riewoldt and Gehrig down. Nick was fantastic in defence and Fraser was just as good in the forward line. He also kicked 3 or 4 goals and took some nice marks against Adelaide.

There was every indication that GT wants to play him as a permanent forward after the acquisition of Penny but after listening to a few of the saints fans who have watched his practice match form thus far, he looks far more comfortable in defence.

If Gehrig can stay injury free, he'll hopefully have a big year. Your mate while arguably right probably didn't mention the fact his year was shot to pieces because of injury early on.

PS - Tomas Radzinski can go and get stuffed. ;)

Ah I'll have a go at him for neglecting to mention his injury! I'd forgotten about that. My knowledge of the 2002 Saints is based largely on match reports, what my dad said in emails, and what people on here said. I did see one game though - the Footscray one, when I was back here for 10 days.

I reckon Fraser's great down back, so there'll be no harm done if he's left there. He impressed me far more there in 2001 than he did up front for the Weagles.

Hahaha I can imagine how Thomasz Radzinski wouldn't be your favourite person at the moment! :D

He also kicked 4 goals against Adelaide, kept both Rocca's goalless, kouta goalless and kicked a goal on him, and kept Neitz to 4 touches whilst carrying a hip injury.

His form from his 12 games last year, was quite good.

This year, he will come close to winning the B&F. That's if he's plays 22 games for us, which he is yet to do while he has been at the club.
