COLA FC can go and get ****ed. It's not enough that they had (and won premierships with) extra salary cap in a salary cap equalised sport (which is beyond ridiculous), they then had the audacity to sook relentlessly about being told they couldn't use it to poach more guns after a grand final year when the AFL is letting them phase it out.

And don't get me started on the 'academies'. Play in the GF but get pick 2 anyway?

Go and absolutely get ****ed Sydney.

Smash it North!

Was quietly hoping that the metallic objects found at ANZ was part of an underground hanger from a black ops team ala mainstream movies and TV serials, which, during this match, would open up due to some global issue needing that crack team of dogooders, and unfortunately for both sides, well, ANZ is a shithole and they were severely injured and only 2 dogs and a bloke named Barry gave a shit that the match was abaandoned.

Go North for this week, go West Coast for the entire thing, and for the early risers this morning who listen to MMM, I've no problem supporting Hawthorn v Freo and I hope the Victorians who decided to support Freo had very poor days and regretted their decision.

Congrats to one of my old faves Nick Dal Santo who will play game number 300 in next weeks Prelim final... :thumbsu:
No other player I'd want the ball in the hands of (does that make sense?). Summed it up perfectly then executed the skill every time. Still love watching him.

Congratulations to Adam Goodes on a sensational career. Has really done it all, everything that can be achieved, he has achieved.

A champion of the game.

It's sad to see him leave on a sour note, and by some, he won't be remembered for what he has accomplished in such a professional manner.

I still think he has caused some of this by himself after quite a few incidents when you simply had to question his attitude. His constant diving, complaining, sliding, dirty plays, pointing out a 13 year old girl, and even the war dance (did he really not know that people were going to boo him even more after that?). It's sad and it sucks that it happened so late in such a decorated career.

However, I know I will remember him for the work he has done for the entire Indigenous community, and his myriad of achievements outside and on the footy field. 2 premierships, 2 brownlows, 3 time B&F, 4 time All-Australian, and in the Indigenous team of the century. Couldn't do much more to be honest.

I'll always remember Goodes as a truly unique afl player. One-touch for someone his height are rare.

He was amazing earlier in 2000s. He injured his PCL and played next week, when all other ruckmen were injuring theirs and heading off for 8 weeks.

He had an outstanding career and always was an outstanding citizen.

He was unfairly maligned in this decade.

He was awarded Australian of the year. He didn't choose to do do.

He got racially vilified. He identified the perpetrator - and only on doing so found out it was a 13 year old girl.

He got booed for no good reason when others who do the same get away with a lot less of the same.

He gets my admiration for being a winner despite all the dices being loaded against him.

Congrats to Goodes. Funnily enough, I had different arc to most. Couldn't stand him early in his career but came to love him late, a la Richo. He was a brilliant player and has even shown a fair bit this year. His performance in the 2012 GF on one leg (as someone else mentioned) was just beyond comprehension. That goal to put them in front, when the supposedly best peel off mark in the comp left him to go up with the pack, leaving Goodes to rove and goal on the tight angle, was sublime.

yeah a pretty tough year getting booed and getting paid 500k for the trouble. I don't know about anyone else but I could handle that for that kind of money.

I don't think that's the deal.

So your sympathy is subjective to their pay packet. If he was getting paid $15 an hour, would you have more sympathy?
Do you think the money helps him deal with his situation?

What a lovely version of reality where all problems can be erased with cash.

No, my point being that people have it a lot tougher than he does. Everybody and I mean everybody has their own issues to deal with one way or another. He was booed, so what. Plenty of players get booed. I'm not going around in circles debating all that again but to say plenty of players get booed.

You do realize that he, along with a lot of aboriginal kids, have been vilified most of their lives for being nothing more then aboriginal and now he is being villified on the football field by hundreds, if not thousands, of people for being aboriginal as he sees it.

No shit lots of players get booed but people were booing goodes because of a stupid ass bandwagon mentality created by underlying racism. People dont get that aboriginals are still treated as an underclass in this country by a lot of people. Its incredibly naive to think otherwise just because you yourself dont directly contribute to any vilification.

If people booed him simply because he is this "supposed dirty player" then why the **** is he get getting booed when simply touching the ball?

I love this concept that Goodes is just getting booed like say Roo does and he is just a big sook.

I'd stay in on a Saturday night to watch a reality show which somehow magically put Goodes' critics in his situation this year.

But listen, its been debated at serious length all over here and SS. I'm not going back there, I've said my bit.

Changing subject, I wonder what ridiculous rule change the AFL will trial in next year's preseason.

I thought it was really poor by commentators & journos since Saturday night to get stuck into the North Melbourne supporters for booing Adam Goodes. They do realise that Goodes wasnt booed until he KICKED Scott Thompson in the goal square right in front of the North Melbourne cheer squad.....

I said it a few times in this thread. Adam Goodes is not above being booed for a shit dog act he performs on field. No player is & nor they should be.

Of course, the AFL controls all football accredited media, so it's obvious it's a directive from the top that any booing directed at Goodes is to be condemned, regardless of what its for....

Yep I noticed this too, he also took a few dives that would've antagonised the north fans.

Was it that kick he got fined for?
